Did it help, we can all think of at least one user it didn't ;)

Great job Sloth, I like it!!
  • Hi Sloth,
One quick note about the arcade... any game where lower is better (like some of the racing games, and the red-blue ball on either side game), the highscore list is upside down. Perhaps this is unfixable, if you require the highest score be the number 1 score everytime; but if not maybe this is an easy fix.

Just thought I'd let ya know.

    Cheers,
    Dave

I miss the "check replys to your posts" link It made for much quicker/easier access to the threads I'm involved in.

    ps....No spell checker?

you can subscribe to posts and either see them in your CP or get notified of updates to the thread you're subscribed to.

an email was sent to everyone (that had the correct email listed on the old site) and an announcement was made about it. You have to reset your password on your old account. Try to login with that account with any password and it will bring up a page with a 'reset password' link on it.
  • OK I have given this a try ... DO NOT LIKE THIS NEW FORUM... It is very hard to find your way around... you have to upload everthing.. sending replies is a pain in the ass.. trying to find threads and stuff is not working.. everytime i have to log on it seems not to be able to keep my nick and password for more then a couple of days.. Not to mention getting to the new site was screwed up.. If JOe was not here i would have never got to the new site at all.. Just do not like the whole layout of this site.. SOrry ... New is not always better. I guess we just have to live with it ...

I do like the arcade... so i guess one thing good about it is something...
  • I'm strugglin with a few things myself. The two biggest are the PM box size and also the fact that just visiting the forum marks posts as read when you leave. Sometimes I can just surf in and read a few posts and want to find the 'unread' or new posts later that I didn't have time for. Worked that way on the old forum.
  • Once again I got to keep friggen logging in as it doesn't seem to remember me very well. Also how do I set things to stay. In ching Hill I change it to 2 weeks or so and when I come back it's set to new posts in the last day. The smiley's work again but my cpf $ have never shown up in my account. Have you gotten through everyone sloth or did I get missed.
  • I just noticed that my CPF$ haven't turned up either?

How am I going to put a forum-toruney bounty on pkrfce9 now?
  • Here's sloths' quote from page 2 of this thread. CPFbucks were one of the first things I thought of, as I had around $400 worth. ($20 for Supreme poker)

CPF bucks are being brought over by hand...I'll be going into everyones account that has more than 50 and entering the number manually...you'll note there is "vbplaza" the "plaza" is for spending your dough when it's there.

When I click "banK" under vbPlaza menu, I get this:

Your usergroup does not have permission to purchase vbPlaza Options.

Do I need to register, or is this part of PFC still under construction?

I have to echo Joe's issue here as well, even as the Mod, I can't seem to set it to show ALL postings or for them to show up any longer than a day. Pain in the ass having to reset it every visit.

Are you NUTS? Talk about flushing money down the toilet...
  • This forum requires that you wait 60 seconds between sending private messages. Please try again in 17 seconds.

WTF Sloth? This is pretty dumb. If someone wants to pm people with spam they will get banned. Making legitimate users wait is dumb.
  • I'll try and adress a few here at once:

"This forum requires that you wait 60 seconds between sending private messages. Please try again in 17 seconds."

You have a valid point about spammers, it's actually also there as a threshold to not put the server under too much stress, but I will lower this.

I am also going to fart around in the admin section to see about having the default view for forums to show more of a history.

Re: vBplaza, it doesn't seem to be all that it's cracked up to be...so the "store" will likely just be a new section of the forum listing the items available and the cost in points..y'all can just pm/post what you want to spend your points on and they'll be removed from your count.

As per a post of mine yesterday, if you don't already have your cpf bux from the old forum, expect to have them by EOD tomorrow (Nov 1)

*edit** Floodcheck on pm's have been removed.

    is it better now?

    MUCH better. Thanks Sloth.
  • Sloth What's going on with this site now? I'm getting posts out of order. Different threads seem to have different rules as to how they are posted. I want them all to be earliest first more recent later. It's getting frustrating here with this software. Give me the old site back.

I'm with Joe here. I've really tried to like this new software, but it seems to have caused more problems then it solved. It's a lot more "work" to come here than it used to be :(
  • "Adapt to your opponent"

But I don't like it much either. I haven't found any features that I like that seem to make the switch worthwhile.

    My biggest issues are:
    1. the 50 limit on PMs (and I wasted an hour getting down to 47) and because I am so close to the limit I have to keep spending time to make sure I delete any sent messages or remember to uncheck the little box which defaults to 'save a copy'. (why? the old forum was default off)
    2. simply visiting the forum and then leaving tags all posts as read. The old forum would not mark posts as read unless I actually opened the thread. Again annoying if I just want to zip in and pick up a pm or surf for a few minutes only.

    Minor:
    3. No easy way to insert a smiley or attachments in a post unless you go look up the codes and type them in manually.
    4. The address is different. pokerforum.ca was easier to say when talking up the forum with other people and seems more Canadian than pokerforumcanada.com I know the old address still works but the title is different and just doesn't feel as homey.
    5. Still no easy way to get to your pokerforum.ca email

Sorry to give you grief Sloth since you put a lot of time into this board and now we use it as our community. Without you, we wouldn't have a place for ourselves. I love it here and if it disappeared it would be a huge loss to me. I can't thank you enough for starting up pokerforum.ca

if it's easier to talk people up verbally using pokerforum.ca, please continue to do so. It will always point here, and the logo is going to be changed as well.

    - I'll increase pm storage shortly.

-Email will be on the menu under 'extras'

    - do you not see smileys beside your typing field on the right of your screen?

-Beanie, can you be more specific?
  • sloth wrote: »

Me not being verbose enough - that's never happened before ;)

Basically the same problem as Moose about posts being marked as read after you leave the forum for a little while (even if you didn't view them). Also, posts you view are NOT marked as read immediately - there seems to be a time delay. Previously, you could simply pop in, read a couple posts and come back later knowing you wouldn't lose anything. Now, if you don't read everything, it may disappear (and sometimes you won't notice it, like the Supreme freeroll :( ). Also, since the messages aren't marked read as soon as you look at them, you need to carefully check the list of new posts to make sure you didn't miss anything.

The PM limit is annoying but I can live with it, and today's out-of-order posts are just a bug which will soon be resolved (I think), so they don't bug me. My main beef is that the core (reading/responding to posts) is far more difficult...
  • sloth wrote: »

    QR = no nothing
Go Advanced = the right side of my screen is a Full Tilt ad

There is Post Icons underneath but that is not for your message, only for the message header.

BTW Smilies are on and if I click on the Smilies link it opens a table that tells me what the character codes are but I have to type them in manually. :(
  • :wav:

Got it Sloth. I was on basic editor for messages. Now I am on Standard. Woot! Much better.
  • My biggest concern is the same as Beanie's. I have missed a lot of threads since I don't surf the site for an hour or so at a time.

Now today I come and all the posts are listed as new. AHHHHHH!
