Curious to know what the gang thinks of the changes so far?

  • SHARP!!!

    Thread Jail...I'm loving it!!
  • Ok, a couple of thoughts.

Just noticed a "gallery" section. Great idea! Please inform us when it's ready, and what the guidelines are.

What about CPF bucks? Did we lose them? If so, it's no big deal, but I was saving mine up so I could have a desent starting roll at Supreme.

the gallery should be up this weekend. It's for all registered members to store pics. CPF bucks are being brought over by hand...I'll be going into everyones account that has more than 50 and entering the number manually...you'll note there is "vbplaza" the "plaza" is for spending your dough when it's there.

the arcade will be coming and will start off with about 100 games.
  • I'M AFRAID OF CHANGE!

But this isn't too scary... as long as someone holds me.

  • very nice hand Sloth - i like it, i like it a lot :)
  • Woohoo! I got fired as a mod!
    wait..thats a bad thing...haha
Looks great, just taking a bit of time to get used to
Quick question, is pokerforum.ca is going to be used, or has the domain been switched to pokerforumcanada now?

if you're not already reclassified as a mod, you will be shortly.
(nerdspeak)Usergroups didn't translate well with the import. (nerdspeak)

the name PokerForum.ca will most definately continue as the primary name and will be pointing here shortly. Needed a secondary domain under which to do the setup on the new dedicated server while not taking down the 'old' setup more than needed. The logo will state pokerforum.ca as well.:blob"

Well First off.. the new site looks great. Very slick. And OMG Thread Jail? Classic...

one qualm though... for a Arcade geek such as myself (and anyone who saw the size length of my posts on the old site, do to the number of "champions" I acheived will surely vouch for that)... I am wondering, will all of the games be coming over form the old site... and will our high scores be intact?

I sure killed a ton of time at my boring job on those scores. If not.. no biggy.. I'll just need to waste a few more days on Break-it! :P

Again, very happy with the new design. Way more modern, and kudos on the patriotic theme. :D
  • Forgot to mention the speed factor! It's so nice not waiting for the pages to load!

    WOOT WOOT!

    WOOT WOOT!

    I second that!! woot woot!!
  • @ CanadaDave...sorry, but the old games won't be coming over. I'm in the process of adding 100 games right now though.
  • For the most part i like the new forum. But I find that having the posts right against the left edge is really annoying. It would look much better if there was some whitespace there, even just half an inch.

Good job though on the conversion.

    That look better now?

Absolutely, thanks alot. Wow can't believe how fast you guys responded.
  • So far, so good. But I think the thing I'm currently missing most is the WYSIWYG editor. Everything is one font, one size and really ugly. Some of the other features, like being able to include links, is also missing here.

Are there plan to bring back some of that functionality?

Canada Dave worked really hard on those game, but I know my Bloody Pingu high score would have lasted for ever!

    hiya Rob

Go to 'user CP' -> edit options -> and scroll to the bottom where you'll find 'Miscellaneous Options ' and there you can add the full advanced editor.

NO, well ok but only for a second and don't tell anyone!!!!

Personally I don't like it. I find it much more difficult to navigate and it seems more cluttered and full of advertising but likely just due to the new look...I'm sure it'll get better.

More importantly tho...I find the content has lost it's appeal big time, there is very little poker discussion anymore, it just seems to be mindless banter back and forth now or spam from xxxIwishIwasahotchickbutI'mreallyafatguyspammerwithahotchickspicturexxx accounts.
  • Finally back and checking things out. I like the new look, but still getting used to the changes. I'm specifically having trouble seeing a list of unread posts since I was last here (Wednesday), but I'm sure I'll find it somewhere. Glad to see everything is back up and running nicely! :)
  • Everyone seems to like it. I didn't when I first logged on and still don't. The speed of pages loading is great. I preferred the old look and layout. Certain things have been found to be real annoying. When I first checked out ching hill there was nothing. I had to go to the very bottom and change from today to last 3 weeks to get the threads to load.

I do like having the child boards accessable from the main page the way they are but this is going to have to get a lot of getting used to. I find it only a little more functional than 2+2 which I friggen hate (the software not the forum).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news sloth, but I don't like the new forum.

would you not feel that once the settings have been made (such as how far of a history to show) and considering it will only have to be done once makes up for it?
  • I don't like it either - at least not yet. But that's probably just because it's new.

Reminds me of a Grandpa Simpson quote:

"I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary"

I'm sure I'll get used to it over time - and once I figure out all the features, I'll probably love it.
  • Only one negitive thing I noticed. (So far)

I miss the "check replys to your posts" link It made for much quicker/easier access to the threads I'm involved in.

    Johnnie

    ps....No spell checker?
  • cole asked that the spell checker be deleted. Since he never used it anyways.
