I'm not the best at putting words to my thoughts but here are 2 quotes from different people in the last couple of weeks that I mostly agree with.
"Most boomers know, or should know, Carney like the last 5 bank of Canada governors had common work experiences and common educational successes both domestically, within govt, and internationally. That means a common connection network within Canada and in international economics. Harper didn't, Trudeau didn't, Chretien didn't, Poilievre doesn't. Carney won't overestimate - he's a straightshooter, calm and collected, detail oriented."
"I’m a boomer from Alberta and definitely voting for Carney. Why? 2 reasons. First is that Carney has raised 4 kids and can deal with bullies like Trump, and the puppet masters behind Trump. He is edgy with reporters, poor with French and doesn’t want us poking into his finances or his family life and good on him for all that - I’ll take him as my PM, warts, ticks and all! When he’s asked a question, he answers the damn question - like my generation was taught! Second, I may be older but I have a long memory for Poilievre’s bad behaviour in the House of Commons, his surface-skimming of facts and issues, his rude and arrogant posturing, and his brutal name-calling of good folks like Singh (that was the last straw for me!). Why would he change if he’s elected PM? Boomer women know a little something about treating folks decently, about helping someone in need, about shutting up when it’s time and speaking up when there’s a need. Quebecquois are especially civil and courteous so I’m not surprised they’re shunning him. 15% tax cut? The hypocrisy of this slogan (it’s in fact 15% OF the lowest tax rate of 15%, which is in fact a 2.25% cut!!) and all his other slogans should make all of us shudder. I stand up for democracy and a hand of steel inside a kid glove and that spells Carney for this election."
