Heads Up - Free Set of 300 Nevada Jacks Chips

Hey, just a heads up that PokerSourceOnline is doing a promotion whre they are giving away 25 sets per day of 300 Nevada Jacks Chips as a signup promotion.  I managed to get signed up and finished 250 hands at partypoker in one night and am waiting for my chips now.  I dunno if this is the right section or not, but I just thought i'd let you guys know as it's a quick way to get a $300 chipset for free. They don't have it listed as a selection in their normal signup, you have to see and click on the banner from either the 2+2 site or on their site.

  • These ones? http://nevadajacks.net/mall/nj_composite.htm

If so, I highly recommend them. I've had mine for 5 months or so now, and I still absolutely love them!
  • Those chips look pretty good, any other testimonials? How do they compare to the composite dice chips I severley regret buying 2 years ago for 175 (set of 300)!!!
  • Just a headsup for those considering this promo. I have been reading some of the posts by Canadians who have completed and received their NJs. Most of them have been charged between $70-$100 in customs and clearance charges by UPS. Not a bad price to pay for NJs, but just a headsup if you are planning to try. I have read you can clear customs yourself and save the $50 charge by UPS for filing the papers for you, but I do not remember where I read that.
  • Westside is right, you will be charged with duties, tax and other charges from UPS. But i read that pokersourceonline is getting some Canadian suppliers soon so that will not be a problem anymore. They said they will have more info by the end of this month.
  • If you have the cash to buy a full set and want to avoid duty charges, StraightFlush.ca (based in Calgary) is selling them.

    http://www.straightflush.ca/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=500PCNJ
  • Yep. There will be customs. The pokersourceonline forums have a post about how to clear it yourself. It would end up being around 70-80 cdn for the duties. Not totally free, but still better than paying $300 cdn +tax and shipping. Clearing the bonus at whatever site you do the promo for should cover the duties anyhow.

I finished my requriements and am waiting for my set now. Can't wait to get them to replace the super-cheap chips we have now. My only beef is that you can't customize the values so I'll end up with 100 $1 chips that won't be used much.

If PSO gets a Canadian supplier and i do the promo, i will exchange the 50 blues for 50 whites.
  • Got a shipping notice from UPS yesterday so I should have these in my hands by tomorrow. I'll put up a review on the weekend and let you know how much I got dinged for customs.

They have a promo right now to get 9000 pso points instead of 6000 as well. I've already cleared 2 sites and am working on a third. Gonna get some best buy gift cards...between those, the site bonuses and my winnings, I should have enough to pick up an xbox 360.
  • You saw the posts showing how to do the brokerage yourself, right? Saves a lot by skipping the UPS fee.

Currently doing the promo myself - although I will give myself a couple weeks to complete it, in hopes that the rumored Canadian distributer deal comes through.
  • just finished the pso promotion thru partypoker needing only 250 raked hands and am awaiting the NJ chips..

Read the post about own custom clearance with Canadian customs & excise but wonder if it is worth the effort driving around to save the 80+ bucks..

By the way as per previous post anyone here know if the NJ chips from the Calgary store is the same quality /type as these from PSO as I would need to get more NJ chips to make a good set.
the NJ chips from PSO with 500 chip set would cost 15000 PSO points ie 2 more promotion sites! to sign up

I'm doing the same thing as you but am going to buy a new laptop. I've finished 3 and am now on my 4th. I did Party and pokerroom for 9000 points each, pokerrewards for 6000 points and am on Paradise for 9000 points.

First off - shouldn't be a matter to do the brokerage yourself. Simply inform UPS that you will be handling the brokerage yourself (do this ASAP).When you are contacted that your shipment has arrived, you go pick up some forms from UPS, go to customs, fill out some more paper and pay GST/taxes as applicable, then take the forms back to UPS, who will release your package.

One poster on PSO stated he only had to pay $30, which is great considering I have heard $70-80 fees with the gouge from UPS.

Also, the chips on Straightflush.ca should be the same chips. I'm doing the promo now, and hopefully there will be word on this Canadian distributer rumour (could it be Straightflush?). I would also like to add some extra chips to the "standard" set, to make it more of a tournament type set.
  • They're here, but I missed my delivery attempt and was too late to call them back to setup a pickup for tonight, so now I gotta wait until monday to get my hands on them...ugh!

The duty ended up being 64 dollars. I was going to call UPS and do the customs myself but by the time I read the post I was too late. Stilll...i'm not complaining. The cheapest i've seen these chips is $300 cdn, plus tax and shipping...so 64 bucks and 2 hours of poker ain't too bad a deal.
  • Let us know how you like them!!!

Include some sweet pics if you can (there was a nice pic of three tallllll stacks on PSO)
  • I got them!

Picked up my package at UPS the other night. Duties came to 64.10 all together. The box included:

    - cookes rules of real poker book
    - dealer button
    - 2 decks of copags...not plastic, but nice
    - 300 pc chip case
    - 100 1$ chips
    - 100 5$ chips
    - 50 25$ chips
    - 50 100$ chips

The chips themselves are very nice. The graphics on the face and edges are great and the feel is leaps and bounds better than the chipsets at costco/walmart. The faces have a nice textured feel to them which seems to help them stack better as well. I lent my camera out, so i'll put up a full review of them soon once I get it back.

All together, I am super happy with this set and the promo at PSO...I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap way of getting a nice chipset.
  • Did you get in early with a customized set or is that the std set?
  • Just a heads up for anyone interested in this deal/promo - PSO has just annouced they have a Canadian distributer, which means NO "brokerage" fees!

    :D
  • Sweat. Do you know where in Canada it is coming from?

They didn't post the info. I've asked, but haven't heard back yet.

BTW, mine will probably be one of the last sets coming from the US. I was confirmed on Friday, I think. So I should be getting an e-mail from the thieves in brown shorts soon! (Of course, I will reply straight away telling them, thanks anyways, but I will take care of the brokerage myself!)
  • funkymunky is correct. They now have a distributer in Canada. This makes the nevada jacks deal great.

These chips are 100's of times better than the dice chips. These are casino quality ceramic chips.

Not yet - they're on the way...

I have handled 8 custon nevada jacks chips, and I have 3 of them.  They are comparable to the chipco chips used in the luxor, but they have a better texture and sound IMO.

    Here are my NJ customs:

  • Hi just wondering everyone's thought's on which site is the easiest to finish this promo on?
  • If it is strictly for clearing PSO's bonus, I would say PP (if you don't have an account already). 250 raked hands took me I believe 2 days of 2 tabling 1/2 limit for 2 hrs a day (4 hours total - maybe closer to 5). Other than that, I don't really have much clearing these bonuses. I cleared Pokerroom in around 4 days of two tabling 1/2 limit again for 2 hours or so a day. I'm looking to do the NJ on Paradise.
  • I'm doing a bonus on paradise right now for 9000 pso points. It's actually 1000 raked hands, not 1000 paradise points to clear it, so it's taking a little bit longer than the others. Party poker was the quickest, followed by pokerroom and absolute.
  • just got the NJ set few days ago. paid $64.27 to UPS..delivered to doorstep. NJ set definitely worth the effort if u gonna play real money anyway. Got the promo doing PartyP on 0.50/1.0 limit overr 2 weeks no big deal. Since then finished 2 other rooms thru PSO upgrade n would definitely agree that Party P easiest to clear on these type of low limit games. next would be Absolute P or Paradise. Now doing PKR n find Poker room much more difficult to get 400 player points at these low limit games compared to other sites. Working hard at PKR ( & not losing money!) to get enough PSO points to get the 500NJ set frrom PSO now that they have a cannuck distributor.
What do other think of Titan or Ultimate Bet?
  • I haven't done Titan or UB yet, but i did do pokerroom too and it was a pain.
  • Whoo boy I'm glad I did Golden Palace before they jacked it to 10000 points. Too bad they shut down Pacific before I could do that one. Anyways my guess would be that GPP will now be by far the hardest promo to clear. Stay away unless you are desperate for a promo.

Can the 250 hands be raked at lower limits? Do they have lower limits?
