Brantford Tourney?

I was recently at Brantford and one of the dealers said that they will be having tourneys every Wednesday and Saturday. They said the first one started on May 11th.

Anyone have any details?

Thanks!

  • There is a new tourny starting at the BCC, held over 4 weeks, then the winners come back and play, then the winner of that goes on to somethin else or something. Starts very soon.

    I'll be there.
  • this tourny is currently on hold..
  • Can someone who goes to BCC often keep us posted? Im sure there are a ton of players on here that are very interested in playing.

    As of when?

I was there last night, playing 10/20, and was told about the tourney ... one of the suits gave me some vague details, so I'm not sure whether it's accurate or not ... here's what I remember ...

    - tourneys every Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. for the next 5 weeks
    - signup the night before (Tuesday) at 7:00
    - max 50 players (5 tables of 10)
    - $40 buy-in ... one rebuy of $20 ... one add-on of $40

    That's about all I recall.

Now, based on the earlier post, this might be moot ...

  • no, it's back on.

I called about the time i made the 1st post they gave me the info.

I called about the time i made the 2nd post, they gave me a bunch of messy "hold" info.

I went and lost $400 at the 5-10, and I got the word.

    She's hot and ready.
  • While you were losing your 400 bucks at 5-10 did you hear anything about when they are going to finally open up their damn NL tables??

Apparently they are not ( opening up no-limit). Talking to 2 different dealers, they were told by management they do not want to fall into the "Fallsview trap", open no-limit games , kill the limit games, players go bust, no rake. That room is 1/2 empty most nights in one of the largest tourist destinations in Canada, their management screwed something up.

    Weekly no-limit tourneys though.
  • What the fuck! I was there like 3 weeks ago and they said they were for sure getting NL tables and as early as this month. GRRRRR that is frustrating to hear!
  • I was there this weekend and the poker manager told me they are getting NL very soon
  • BAH can we get an official answer here or what lol?
  • Tourneys starting May 11 (today) and the next 4 wednesdays.  $40+$5 (with Winner's Circle).  One, maybe more rebuy ($20) and one top up ($40 for 2X the chips).  It starts at 9 AM and I believe it ended around 2 pm.  Free Roll (free for those that make it) finale June 15 or 11 depending on which brochure you read either the next Saturday after the last event or the next Wednesday.  Did not notice this discrepancy until now.  There was some good payouts, I think there is a cap of 50 in the tourney so should be about $5000 in prize money there.
Sounds like it went all right.  You can go sign up the night before starting at 7pm or that morning starting at 7 am.

A couple hours of 2/5 and up $37.  Not much but the right direction.  Saw an awesome poker outfit, guy's hat said "Rehab is for Quitters" and his shirt had a girl with a brown milk mustache with the caption "Got Sanchez"

Going next Tuesday night to see if I can get in on this B&M tourney action.  Anyone else?
  • Yeah I would like to know when I have to get there to get a seat
  • Congrats to our very own magithighs for placing in yesterday's tourney.

(Magi, nice to finally play some 10/20 with you last night.)

    P.S. Did anyone else play?
  • I played in the one held yesterday.  Was not bad, costs are what has been stated so far in this thread.  One thing I did not like was that for the first hour they were seating new players everytime someone busted out, our table had 3 new players come in during the first hour.  I went out just shortly after the break, was in the bb and the flop came 10 :c:, 8 :s:, 2 :d: , I had A :d:,J :d:, checked and the next seat hesitated then bet 200 so I figured maybe mid pockets or matched the 10 or 8, everyone else folded and I raised to all in (only had about 1800 chips left), he called and had pocket 7's the turn and river didn't help.  All in all I thought it was a fairly decent tourney, and will probably play again next week.  I can't remember the exact payouts but I know that first payed just over $1,400 and 10th payed $120ish
  • Thanks Macbb!

It was a good tournament for the money.  Prize stucture isn't the greatest, but for the price it's good value (IMO).

45 buy (1000 chips), 20 rebuy (500 chips) once your under orginal chip count (post/fold/rebuy) and 40 for the rebuy.  You get $5 food voucher (why do I feel strange playing for food vouchers) and $10 for $5 chips for regular table games.  Blinds start at 25/25, 25/50, 50/100, 100/200, 150/300, 200/400, 300/600, 500/1000, 1000/2000, 2000/4000, 5000/10000, .  They go up every 20 minutes and the final table started at 5000/10000.

I was lucky enough to draw the small blind at the final table with the blinds at 5000/10000.  Folded my first hand.  Second hand on the button, I get T8 spades, ,folded to me and I push my stack (15,000) in and take the blinds.  Next hand I get 99, it's folded to me in the cutoff and I push and take the blinds.  Next hand I get JJ and it's folded to me and I push and the BB calls with AKo.  He wins and I have 9k left.  (AK boy goes on to win the tourney cause I made him).  Skip a hand, and then I look at AJ diamonds -- UTG pushes, I call and BB calls.  UTG has AQo, BB has 97o.  BB takes the hand with a board of 998K (two diamonds now) and 7 (bah it was a club). IGHN in 9'th place.

I'm not a big fan of the crazy blinds at the final table.  They don't realize that the tournament would end quickly even if the blinds didn't skyrocket at the end.  Maybe if they could employ the services of some of the pokerforum tourney guys, they would realize the tournament would be over just as quickly.  And, they had a nice crowd around the final table.  So, I think a tad slower blind structure would work for everyone.

Also wasn't crazy about the prize structure.  9'th place was a 140 bucks.  I would prefer a top 3 or 5 payout with bigger prizes (but this would only work if the blinds were reasonable at the end).  They did have a neat bounty structure.  After the addon, everyone gets a voucher.  If you knock out someone you get their voucher.  You get 10 bucks for every voucher.  I got three vouchers!!

Also they keep 15% of the prize pool for the freeroll in June.  The casino matches the prize collected, so it should be around a 8k prize pool All top 10 players get a place in the freeroll on June 11 (hopefully thise doesn't conflict with ksop).

    Cheers

  • how many players?
  • I believe magi wrote "45 buy", so...i'm assuming the tourney started with 45.
  • The max. number of players was 50 (and hurray it was 10 to a table, just to make me happy).  To clarify the buy-in is $50, or $45 if you have a winner's circle card (takes 5 minutes to get this by registering for it), a $20 rebuy until the first break (four levels or 80 minutes) and a $40 addon.

Unlike the other poster, I liked the fact that they brought new players to the table when someone busted out before the break.  I know it puts more chips on certain tables, but I don't think the structure changes the dynamics that much.  I just like the extra money into the pool.

See you all there next week.

    Cheers

  • How long did they bring in new players? For the first level only?

I'm assuming you can take a rebuy right off the bat? So if the tourney started @ 9am, would you recommend going there @ 7am to register?

Very odd (for me) but you can't take the rebuy unless you are under your original 1000 chips.  I asked if I could change a 25 chip into fives or 1's but they wouldn't let me. So, first hand I dump 25 chips into the pot and fold (glad I didn't get aces) -- REBUY!.  I would recommend going the night before to register.  It starts at 7:00 pm, and getting there a little before six would be good.  Around six, they gave out wristbands with numbers.  They began calling folks 10 at a time every ten minutes at 7:00 pm.

I believe they sold-out on Tuesday night (at 9:00 pm they had 10 spots open).  I'm not sure how many players were on the waiting list and how many showed up Wed. Morning and got on the tables.

    Cheers

The KWSOP is June 24-26 so you're good! Congrats on the finish! That 2k-4k to 5k-10k jump is crazy!
  • How do you get into the KWSOP?
