Let's fix Bill's plan
I have 2 big problems with Bill's plan that I think can be fixed.
1. No guaranteed daily tournament. This discourages people like me and Wetts from even bothering to show up. Others might come out once then never again. I think if anyone shows up, Bill should run the tournament. I know he wants a minimum of 8 but I say if even 1 person shows up, that person and Bill and rookieC and 'The Legend' should run a game and the winner gets a seat to the freeroll. Once word gets around that there IS a game every night, it should not be a problem getting sufficient numbers out. The problem is getting it started and letting people know they'll get a game regardless of the turnout should fix this.
2. I don't know Bill. He might be the nicest guy in the world but he could also be an asshole. Some of his posts here have not helped his cause. For all I know, he could pull the plug on his business the day after I put up my $30. Or he could pull a Toronto Aces move and decide the winner does not 'deserve' the ticket. That is why I suggested someone we all trust, like Comp, should hold the tickets (or cash equivalent) and thus guaranteeing the prize is delivered to whoever wins under whatever rules are put in place. Once Bill has built up some credibility, this issue goes away.
Those are my biggest issues. I'd also like to see the plan more formalized but I think if this was in place, I'd have no problems signing up. I know I've given Bill a lot of grief here, mainly because I didn't think he had the will to do what it would take to make this work but it would be great to have a regular local game and I'm sincere that I would participate given these changes. It is worth $30 bucks a month to me to have a dependable place to play with a very good chance to win a ticket to a bigger tournament.
Does anyone else have any positive suggestions for changes that would make them want to sign up? John Galt has left the building.

if that will get these games going. I know most of you think I'm an asshole but
sometimes you have to be an asshole to get any reaction. My main intent as I had
said before was to have a permanent fun poker room integrated in my business, the
difference being I am prepared to give the winner of the 7 pm daily poker tournament
entry into 5 bi-weekly satellite events where the winner will receive an entry to
an event at BRANTFORD CASINO.
The first bi-weekly satellite is scheduled for Sat. June 14 at 2 pm whereby the
winner will win entry to the $130 SUPER SATELLITE at BRANTFORD CASINO on
June 16 for the June 29th $1090 event ( 1 in 10 will win a seat ) and 2nd will
win an entry to the $130 SUPER SATELLITE at BRANTFORD CASINO on Jun 23
for the June 29th $1090 event ( 1 in 10 will win a seat )
As Greg suggested, even if 1 person shows up for a GOLD MEMBERSHIP a game
will go on with " the legend " and myself. If 8 or more show for the tournament
we will not play in it. But if you win, you will win entry into 5 local freerolls where
the winner will go to a BRANTFORD CASINO EVENT.
CAN I NOW COUNT YOU IN ?

I would like a complete explanation of how this works however, perhaps a good deal clearer than Bill explains it here. Greg, do you have it clear in your mind? Perhaps put it here in point form with your assessment, then assuming Bill agrees, I will escrow and hold seats until they are won.

* daily tourney at 7pm sharp. I expect it is NL with a structure designed to complete in 2-3 hours
* for every 8 entries there will be 1 qualifier for the freeroll. Guaranteed 1 qualifier each day. It sounds like if you qualify then you qualify for the next 5 freerolls as long as you remain a gold member
* freeroll runs semi monthly for a seat at an area Casino such as Brantford. First freeroll is June 14th at 2pm sharp.
* 1st and 2nd get $130 seats to Brantford super Satellite. I think Bill had indicated what the tickets will be for the first 5 freerolls.
* comp will hold the tickets or the cash equivalent of the freeroll prize and ensure it is awarded to the winner of the freeroll. If for any reason the freeroll can't be held, as in Bill closes up shop, comp can decide the best way to declare a winner.
* $30 per month to be a gold member. I'm assuming if we sign up late in the month we are good for at least 30 days.
I'm typing this on my phone so it is difficult to see what I've missed. What else?
Bill please confirm this is accurate or correct what I've got wrong. And add any extra details you can...

So if only 1 tournament ever runs, will the scheduled freeroll with seats still run?
Good question. I know Bill would like to have a minimum of 8 entrants for each freeroll. I pointed out that is probably not realistic for the first one. He agreed. This should not be an issue for subsequent freerolls especially if each winner qualifies for 5 freerolls. The date for the 1st freeroll is set for the 14th.
Further if you sign up then the dailies will run at least twice since I'm going to want to qualify too! And then comp makes 3 times. And so on...
Finally comp is holding the prize and he will ensure it gets awarded.
Keep bringing the questions. I've had a few exchanges with Bill trying to make this attractive enough for local players but I probably missed out on some details.

part you are correct. The winner of each 7 pm daily tournament is guaranteed 5
entries for the next 5 freerolls as long as you are a gold member. If there was 24
players, then the 2nd and 3rd finisher would be entered in the next freeroll, not 5.
It's only the winner of these nightly tournaments that get the big 5. I will announce
at the beginning of the tournament who could win what just to make it clear.
The GOLD MEMBERSHIP is a monthly deal, not a 30 day deal. If you signed up
today or within the last 5 days of the month we would call it the next month,
but otherwise if you sign up June 1 -25, it's June. Same with any other month.
If you signed up for June, that's the month, for July, that's the month etc. If
there's a problem just talk to me. I'm approachable.
I've agreed that Comp could hold the $260 for the June 14 freeroll at 2 pm. so
there will be a 1st and 2nd winner to the SUPER SATELLITE EVENTS. I've also
indicated that if there is not at least 8 players at this event " The Legend "
and I will play. If there's more than 8 we''ll probably deal.
Each player will start with $4300 in chips.( 8- $25 , 8 - $50 , 7 - $100 , 6 - $500 )
and 8 players to a table. First ace will deal. Everyone will take their turn dealing.
Blinds will increase every 20 minutes and will start 25 - 50, 50 - 100, 100 - 200,
200 - 400, 300 - 600, 400 - 800, 500 - 1000, 1000 -2000, 2000 - 4000, 3000 - 6000,
4000 - 8000, 5000 - 10000, 10000 - 20000, 20000 - 40000, etc . Blind structure
may vary depending on turnout but will be announced at beginning of game.
If there's anything I left out please ask. I'm trying to co-operate because I see
it's close. Imagine a poker place in Mississauga where you can play every day,
no more cancelled games.

Okay, so Person "X" gets his Gold membership Friday night, takes home a few movies, and he can play Saturday? No need to "qualify" by winning a nightly tourney?
I take your point, but I am not a fan of rules changes part way through the deal . . .
It's like signing up for a freeze out and having the host decide it's a re-buy after one of his buddies busts out in the first level.
