British Columbia Poker Chmpionships

Hi, was just wondering if there was anyone out there that is attending this event, or has attended it iin the past. I recently won a seat to the main event, just wanted some tips, i play alot of live games and am comftorable at the table, but going to the stakes i play at the casino to a $3000 event... It's a big jump and will take any advice I heard this is the most difficult field in Canada. Ty

  • Here is the forum post on the BCPC for this year.

    I've attended once 2 years ago.....great tourney.

As for the advice, read the strategy part of the forum, post some hands you've had issues with.

  • Tips: Get ready to play some of the toughest poker of your life, judging by who turned up this month...

You can count on Buchanan, Mueller, Jarvis and every player in the top 1% of Canadian players showing up for this.

Scott Clements and Terrance Chan where also at Edgewater and with most the USA online pros like Brian Hastings and company now in Vancouver, this year will likely be one of the toughest.

Other than that, pick good spots, build big pots and good luck!
  • omg... thanks

    lol BC.

What not to be a fan of? I guess I could see some poeple getting annoyed with him during his time on the feature table of the WSOPME..

Dennis nailed part of it. I was a huge fan at one point and still consider him an icon. I started changing my views after he whined for exclusive events at WSOP since he figured young generation was making it a mine field. Then Epic comes along and does just that and he passes.
He makes some very good points on many topics but I didn't like hearing he belittled Jarvis a few years back, at coincidently...the BCPCs

I get the reasons he hates Duke, but he is still an ambassador for Canada and would be nice to seem him represent. I have aired this with him and others via twitter, will say he is decent enough to respond and when I first got in the game, he was kind enough to chat with me and a friend even tilting after busting early. He did also apologize on twitter for his recent whining to fans

So in short, I guess I would like to see him get off the high horse and being more of the guy that drew the fan base in the first place, come play the majors up here again too. Half the reason I look for other players to promote is to show that there are so many more talented Canucks than just him and definitely much friendly these days

I would have to look it up in November 2010 issue of Poker Pro Canada, but I guess he was rude, arrogant, cutting up his play when they were in last few tables of BCPC (back before JArvis binked everything)

I presume they will be opening them as long as they have people wanting to play them...and will run them as tables fill?
