Bcpc 2011

Read on =4 that the dates are:

Oct 23 - Nov 9

Someone confirmed the dates......but seems a bit long, and ending on a Wednesday?

Apparently they've moved it up a few weeks due to the grey cup being in Vancouver.

Haven't seen a schedule yet.

If it really is that long, maybe theyve learned from past mistakes.

People simply wont travel for 1-2 events.

Put up a list with 6-8 events and you'll see a big increase in field size.
  • When is USA thanksgiving this year? That will help too.

is this all confirmed? I heard there was going to be a high roller, believe it was in a thread. Love new poker news!
  • fyi.....I believe the $550 event sold out quick last year

anyone wishing to play should register at least a week in advance

probly have to quit my job to play this year (holidays have been nuked by Vegas)

that being said, I might try to make for the $550, as it's on a weekend
  • I am kinda pissed at the schedule..it's waaay too early. I was banking on mid November. Throws a wrench at the poker tour and seats for our players.

OK. Only this one time will I LMFAO at this. BCPC and BSPT...

Gonna have to say thats like apples waiting for oranges.

The schedule has everything else going for it. Other than your tourney directors, we both know 90% of BSPT players get slaughtered here...
  • lol Jon, play nice!!

I don't care how they do (to a degree)...I just want to be able to give them the opportunity to play here..The seats make fantastic prizes :)

Yeah, not sure why they take so long to announce, especially when the dates are drastically different.....even just a notice saying it's likely to be a month earlier or something.
  • Don't hate on big slick =/

How much would the bountys be?

Macke, I love Big Slick, I had three locations here in Calgary. However, while I agree 100% with Dennis that it's an awesome prize for any player, BCPC and WSOP I have always thought to be way too big of a leap, also the COPC 5k (or 2k). The lure of the prestigious tournaments is definitely a motivator, but I think that putting more BSPT players into smaller tourneys would give them a better shot at $$$$. Usually, a lot of players are just starting to buy into casino after 3 seasons.

No disrespect to BSPT players, but BCPC is hands down considered one of the most difficult tournament fields in Canada, if even the more experienced are asked.

From a personal note, It is one tournament that even at $550 I don't think I would have a hope in hell and I can qualify for BSPT finals everytime playing a third of the games.

While I agree to a point Jon, most BSPT players want the shot at tourneys they would never otherwise enter. We have tried the (more of) smaller buy in prizes, and players don't want that. Hell, some of em spend over 600 bucks in a season at a location while trying to win these seats..They don't want 550 seats.. They want the bigger prizing/seats. Most don't do well, as like you say, the level of play is so much more than they are used to...but they really enjoy the experience, and they get to tell their buddies they took chips from (insert pro name here)....

    Selling the dream... :)
  • 4 day $500 tourney sounds kinda like a waste of time. $1100 may be a possibility for me
  • Big Slick doesn't give how the huge tournaments right now do they?

500 dollar seat (choice of BCPC or WCPC) then Provincials winner does get the cool WSOP seat. Then again I am going off memory.. and this is just for my area as well.

I'm sure a couple of you have played the West Coast Poker Championships.. how does that compare to BCPC? much smaller scale so I might go into one of those..

Big Slick will be going back to big prizing this coming season...the small prizing wasn't what players wanted. No idea what your (playnation) location will be doing with prizing.
  • Hmm I see.

So the winner of the big tourneys gets a seat into the main event of BCPC? Something like that?

So Dennis are you saying that not all playnation locations will be switching back to Big Slick?
  • The $550 isn't really 4 days. There's 3 day 1's....and they combine on day 4. Not sure if it's a re-entry if you bust day 1a/1b.

Also seems absurd that the rake for the Main Event is higher than prelims (% wise)

  • Nice that sounds better. Might seriously consider 1&2 now
  • Just sat'd into the 550 tonight. *giggity* Pissed I came in second in the 1100 sat. the other night though. The Playnow sats are pretty easy to make FT.

...its just got harder tho... ^-^
  • My buddies and I are throwing down $55 for 1 seat at the 550 event. BAP.
If luck swings my way, I'll see ya'll there.
PFC t-shirts anyone? or is that just super lame?

You'll figure it out. Also might want to consider starting here:

it's not a requirement though. Perhaps we're a bit leery of such 1st times posts or maybe that's just jontm and me.
  • It was a first time post yes... but i did win that seat to the BCPC main event, freerolled my entire way... but was just wondering why that quoute was changed and what fyp meant. GL to all and if you could get back to me that would be great...

If all you are going to do is post links to another free bar tour here you won't last long. Stick around and post useful and interesting stuff and you might even get something out of it... Pirana or some form of it was around in Ontario years ago but had some funny stuff going on before folding. ymmv....

oh, and please quit taking this valuable BCPC thread off track. Open a new thread if you want to talk about your own event..
