Selective Aggression

All right guys this is sort of a strategy question that I have for loose tables. Say you have position on a really loose player in a looser type game. Now you have a big hand such as AK suited and the loose player raises preflop and you call, everyone else folds so your heads up. Now the flop comes something like 6-Q-10 with atleast one of your suit or two. Say now that the crazy seat bets out. What do you do? Would you raise in this siuation or just call? I think I would raise because I'd feel that making my draw or hitting I K or an A would definitly win the pot. Then if you miss it on the turn your raise on the flop might freeze the crazy if he truly has nothing, but if not he might bet out again at you. Then what? Is it time for a disciplined fold? Then if you did hit the draw and the crazy bets out you raise he calls I think it's assumed that you are ahead. Maybe this helps you get an extra bet out or two. I'm not sure thats why I'm throwing it out for discussion. That and I lost some cash playing in a wild game last weekend and I think I needed to play more like this than anything. But still it is now out there for conversation. Also I'd like to put out there what do you guys think the sweetest poker accessory is right now? Anyone have some little leather card cases or the like? I think mine is my portably mini poker table/chipset that I got at WalMart for $7 it has definitly got me through some boring times. It's always time for some heads up action. Hope this causes some discussion

  • Limit or NL?

Limit you should be 3 betting preflop. Flop I would lean towards raising with a BD flush draw+gutshot+overcards+chance of having the best hand. Calling isn't terrible headsup, but if you think there's any chance of him tossing away a weak hand or getting a free turn card, I prefer the raise (the downside is if he's aggressive he's often 3 betting you if he's connected with the flop at all, unless he hit a monster like a set or maybe top 2, in which case he may try to check raise the turn).

Turn is dependant on whether or not you improve, read, etc. In general, I'd hope to get a free card and check behind UI, and bet/raise if I did improve (possibly just calling if an A or K hit dependant on read). In general you're going to make money off the loose players (passive or aggro) by making hands, and punishing them accordingly, not by trying to bluff your way through a hand.
