river rock tournaments
just a fyi...
was talking to Alex last night, one of the top dogs at the river rock poker room (richmond, BC)...and he expects their first tournament to be held the first week of september...
he said he expects the buy-in will be $50 or $100...and that they will probably run it every week....and he said that every month they would have a slightly larger buy-in tournament...and then every 3-4 months, an even bigger one (1000-1500-2000)...which is great news
i inquired about space, and he mentioned that, if necessary, the video poker/slots just outside the poker room may be moved...and that space, combined with the smoking room space (that cannot be used for smoking, as of right now, like they planned....ie. empty space), could accomodate another 15 tables, if needed, for tournaments....those slots/vid poker don't get used very much, probably because no one goes up the stairs unless they plan on playing real poker, so the casino wants to move them
of course, this is all early info, and things may change...but i'm quite happy to hear that they will try running tournaments on a regular basis...i just hope people support them and enter
