play money chips

A good 'friend' of mine (ok it's me) has a big stash of play money chips on the poker stars site. I noticed recently that a pop-up arrives at the beginning of a tourney offering money for them .......usually about $15 per milllion. I've got a substantial amount and since i don't use them anymore (I'm a big girl now I play for real money) the offer looks attractive. Soo, what I want to know is,
a) is it safe? and
b) what the hell do these people want with them? Is there some kind of bizarre black market trading in play chips?

Anyone know anything?

    people buy them so they can play the "higher" play money games, apparently the play is "better". As far as I know, it's completely legit.

    Either what the guy said above, or it could actually be the site. I believe it's Absolute Poker that offers 50$ for everyplayer who accumulates 1 000 000 in play money, and 50$ every time after that for each following million. ( upon first deposit)
