Don't 'Guarantee' Stuff You Can't!

There is a club in the home games forum saying they have the lowest rake guaranteed. Someone I know was there, their rake wasn't even close to the lowest. They said they don't have the lowest % but the lowest cap (not true). Months ago, another club guaranteed a $XXXX prize pool & didn't deliver. Don't 'guarantee' stuff you can't!

Good clubs like Airport don't guarantee stuff they can't deliver. I'm not spamming for Airport, just peeved at clubs w/ false promises.

    You mean like that 10k* guaranteed tourney on the weekend?

    I wasn't there, but they had a disclaimer that it was based on 60 player min. They didn't say it was $10 K regardless of the # of entrants.

    The issue w/ the lowest rake guarantee is not only is it false, he did it w/o knowing what other clubs rake (or worse, he knows they're raking less & he's still claiming the lowest rake).

    The other club that guaranteed a $XXXX prize pool also didn't have a disclaimer that it required a min # of players. In this case, someone else was hosting the event at this club so the club doesn't bear all responsibility.

    Please post or PM me who it was so that we can avoid their events. I like playing at poker clubs, but there is at least one really bad apple whose events I will never make the mistake of going to again.

    Sure they did. But it makes the guarantee totally worthless. Just imagine if Stars said their $1M guaranteed tourney was only guaranteed if they got more than $1M in entry fees. Everyone would consider this to be a big joke.

    Not that I'm slagging Airport Club. I just think it was a really poor example to use for illustrating the point.

    Exactly.  The only point of the "guarantee" is to get people to commit and show up.  But, to "guarantee" it only if enough players pay for it is no guarantee.
    You hop onto a ***** Site and play a "10000" guarentee, you know that is the prize pool...meaning they ante up the difference if its short so you know you got what you paid for.

    Anything less is BS.
