Myself and a friend are heading down tomorrow, hope to get into 1 or 2 of the $160 sats. Are there any rules concerning cell phone use during play?
No electronic devices are permitted at any gaming table at Fallsview, including poker tables. Please note that this rule includes the following: cell phones (placing/receiving a call, text messaging, checking the time, taking photos, playing games taking notes, etc...), cameras, mp3 players/ipods, any other electronic device.
Are you allowed to keep notes as you play?
Yes, as long as you are not keeping notes with an electronic device. Pen and paper is acceptable.
I headed to Fallsview to play a couple $160 satellites today. I must have brought my "A" game because I won both. So now I have two shots at the main event. I will be heading down this Saturday to play. I am looking forward to the better structure for the $1200 satellite with more chips and 30 min blinds. Has anyone else played the $1200 satellites? How did you find the play?
On a side note, an interesting thing happened at the cash table I was playing at between satellites. I was playing a 1/2 NL game. I wasn't in the pot, but this is how it came down.
4 or 5 players in a small raised pot. Flop is all spades, possible straight flush. First player bets $50 into a $25-$30 pot. Player two goes all in for $53, third player calls the $53, at which point the dealer accidentally scooped player 2's cards and put them in the muck. Player 2 is livid (rightfully so). Supervisor comes over, dealer admits he screwed up, player 2 is yelling names and swearing. Supervisor gets her supervisor, who rules the cards are mucked and there is nothing that can be done. Player 2 continues to go crazy and asks for the Manager. Almost 20 minutes later, the manager shows up and rules the hand is mucked. Player 2 storms out of the poker room, and is very vocal about it. Play finally contines after what seemed like an eternity and it turns out that player 2 flopped a straight (that's what the supervisor said he told him), ended up Player 1 had flopped the flush and took down a nice pot. I heard later that they gave the guy to complimentary buffet meals to compensate him. We did get a free round without a session fee due to the incident.
A similar incident happened in a $100 rebuy tournament I was in. When the all-in player was about to turn over his cards, they were gone. He told the dealer what pocket pair he had and the dealer verified that those cards were in the muck, but the dealer gave the chips to the other player. From my understanding of Robert's Rules of Poker, this was the correct decision as the player is responsible for protecting his cards. However, when the tournament director was summoned, he ruled that the all-in player's chips be taken away from the winner and be given back to him. :bs:
