Trip report I s'pose
Went down to the casino ABS in Edmonton after work on saturday night. Hadn't been doing too well at the 3-6 hold'em games or the tourneys. So I decide for my fifty dollar buy-in I wanna get some card playing in. I sit down with 50$ at 1-5 7 stud, minimum buy-in 80 years old. They let me in though, I make 'em all feel young. Saturday night is a loose night, so I play tight and wait for hands up to $110 and cash out about 3 hours later. Wife lets me go out next week if I bring home money. Tip#1 Cash out your winnings in casino chips, wife can't spend them that way. Deposit buy-in back into bank on way home.
Highlights of the night. Freddy playing blind against what turns out to be quad 9's, freddy flips over his blind 3's to make quad 3's. WOOHOO bad beat, what's behind door #1? 9 freaking dollars. The bad beat was won 8 hours previously that day. I call that the worse beat. Loser gets 4 bucks, winner gets 2, and the rest of us get a buck each. Casino must have pitched in a buck, I think there was 6 of us at the table.Something like that anyway. Casino manager was so embarassed he gave the whole table dinner cards. Damn straight I'll take free pizza.
Next highlight for me I shouldn't even mention but anyway I will. Me and one old man heads up. I was dealt trip 7's first 4 cards or something. He has 2 jacks showing, I know he has a higher set. This is where my question comes in. I know what tilting is, and I know what steaming is, but is there a name for the following situation besides the obvious F******g idiot, stupid idiot and the like. Here it is. I can't take my eyes of my three 7's, I am in love. They are so pretty. He bets 5 I just call. I get my river a card, a 10. Aw shit doesn't do anything for me, he bets 5, I think a bit, I declare "I fold" my 3 7's face up thinking I'll show them I can fold a good hand when I know I'm beat. That damnitalltohell 10 river paired me up and gave me a full house. I double checked it too. How's that for bad beat? So, back to the top. Is there a name for that situation where you just fall in love with those pretty cards and nothing else matters, or do I get to name it? Perhaps bogartin' them 7's?
