CNE trip report (also brief)
I arrived at the CNE casino and got my name on the 10/20 list at around 3:00. I was 20th in line.
At around 4:20 or so, they had only gotten through 6 people on the list ahead of me. I gave it some thought, and figured I'd have to wait another couple of hours or so to get a seat in a game that has limits I don't care to play, that charges a max. rake of $10/pot, which is insane.
IGHN.
I called the Great Blue Heron (I mean the casino, not some magically fantastic Great Blue Heron) and they were running one $20/$40 game. Omaha.
Why do I bother.
On tonight's menu:
PartyPoker's 9:00 Super Monday tournament, $162 buy-in.
PokerStars' 7:30 $109 + rebuys tournament.
PokerStars' 9:10 $150 + $12 tournament.

GL.
That is a juicy 20 40 omaha game...although pot limit is a much better game
As for the CNE, you have to arrive prior to 2pm or after 1am to avoid the waitlists
I suggest coming at night...because I work nights...and it would be nice to see the face of someone I know from outside the CNE, as opposed to the faces of the degenerate blackjack players I see every day. They've started to know me by name, and I find that disturbing.
And hey, if you come play on the 1st, maybe you'll even get me as a dealer.
Either way, if you're in the casino again, stop by Pit 2 and say hi!
Is that offer specific to Devin? Can any old forum dude say hi?
I showed up at 12:10 am. There were 53 people ahead of me on the list... the guy at the counter was nice enough to give me an exact count. IGHFRN. (I go home for real now.)
If I ever decide to try again (which, to be honest, is pretty damn unlikely after yesterday) I will certainly look for you Easy. It would be great to see you again!
Can you call the poker room before hand to put yourself on a list ? (ie, if you're on the GO)
They have a number on the site I'm going to call later (busy day today)
"For information on our 18 Texas Hold 'em Poker tables, please call 416-263-3251"
I assume you have to pay general admission to get into the ex, is there anyway around this ?
Can you buy a casino only pass ?
I was there 1230am last night and the list was 40+, so I went and played an underground 10 20 with a $4max rake insteat. Looks like future plans at the ex will be 1pm-2pm start times for me...I'll be there Friday at that time.
No you can't call ahead. As far as that # is concerned I tried it and got a recording with the games being spread. If anyone knows of a # that allows you to speak with someone regarding the list that would be great to know.
The first time you play ask for a VIP host and sign up for a VIP pass, after a few hours of play go to the VIP desk just to the left of the poker room and you will recieve 18d free admission and free parking passes to the ex.
Thanks, I'm likely going to be heading there for noon tomorrow.
Gonna check out the 10/20 game.
Anyone have a bankroll amount I should bring to be safe ?
I was figuring I'd buy in between 400-500, and have another 600ish on hand for junk.
I normally have the same when I hit brantford up, but with the fluxuation I'm thinking of taking more.
Anyone can say hi Inspecting is probably the easiest job in the world, so, I apreciate any and all distractions.
That amount sounds adequate for $5-10.
I typically find my buyin to be in the 40BB to 50BB range (Big bet, not blinds as previously discussed). Having some extra cash on hand is a good idea in a game that sounds as wild as this (in case you get off to a poor start).
For $10-20 I'd probably sit with $800ish. And wouldn't be adverse to have at least another $400 on standby in case I get bit early. Remember these wild games will be swingy as hell, so trying to stay off tilt when the swings go bad is crucial. Personally, I find having enough chips in front of me that I don't notice when my AA or KK busting helps...
Buy-in? $800 per session sounds reasonable.
Is it just me or are your posts getting more cocky everytime? I understand you "SEMI PLAY POKER" for a living, but, easy on the pat me on the back posts...
Ie.... Bankroll 6-9K....
Relax
Just thought i would say hi ... since no one else is even looking for you at the CNE... If Joe and ever go there We will look for you just to say hi....
Aimee
I prefer tournaments but if they dont have that what else is there?
No tournaments. Just $5/$10 LHE, or $10/$20 LHE. It's busy all the time. And if your bankroll is $150 to $200, you can't afford to play either of the limits offered at the CNE. Play online for microstakes (.50/1.00) or if you really want to play live, play at Rama ($2/$5).
Well, what do you think is a reasonable 10-20 bankroll? I would say minimum 300bb is standard and by my math that is 6k. I'm not sure how this is being cocky, I was simply answering the question as posted.
I might go to rama and play 1/2 no limit there. Thanks.
GTA beat me to it, but he's right, you should have about 6k IF you're actually managing a bankroll rather than just playing cuz you can afford to lose it.
