Is anyone hosting a satellite into the 2500 + 200?

I see plenty of satellites into Step 2 Fallsview satellites but is anyone in the greater KW area considering hosting a tourney directly into the smaller buy-in event?  This would guarantee somebody in a WPT event as opposed to hoping they win another 2 table SNG.

I would take a couple of cracks at a 27 x $100 tourney.  Anyone else interested in playing/hosting?

  • The satellites for the $2,700 event to be held at the old Casino Niagara will probably be as bad as the Step 1 bingo satellites at Fallsview, so I am interested in playing in any rake-free WPT satellites.

Pirana Poker Tour's grand prize is a $2,700 seat to the WPT Canadian Poker Open Championships. I won an 8-person tournament in a bar, then won the 15-person Winners Circle Invitational tournament later that day, so I now have a seat in their Grand Championship. So by playing as little as one day and less than 25 players in the free bar tour, you too can qualify for a FREE shot at the WPT! :D They have seven events in Kitchener-Waterloo per week, including four back-to-back doubleheader games.
  • The Step 1 satellites to the Canadian Poker Open have a horrible rake of 24%!  :rage:  A group of 10 people would have to fork out $50 each or $500 total for a prize pool worth only $380 ($330 Step 2 seat and 2nd place get a replay).  A much better alternative for that group of 10 people would be to host their own tournament and only spend $37 each or $370 total for the same prize pool, saving $130!

It is the same bingo structure as the Step 1 satellites to the North American Poker Championships, i.e., only 800 chips, only 10-minute blinds, and the blinds quadruple from the 3rd to 4th level.  Several of my friends wasted $90 each playing in these Fallsview satellites.  They have had a lot of success in other tournaments, but after waiting a couple of hours for the bingo-fest, they were quickly eliminated in a few minutes! :'(

The Step 2 satellite is $330, with ar rake of over 8%.  Starting chips are 2,000 for 10 players, with 20-minute blinds.  A better alternative would be to have a rake-free home satellite (using WPT Canada's quirky blind schedule), where at least 27 players will spend only up to $100 and possibly get a stake in the winner (just like Bristol Street).
  • yeah, we get it
