Tournament Series

Hi all,

Im looking at running a Tournament Points series where at the end of the series the Points leader will play in a bigger tournament. (like 1K+ buy in..depending on turnout)

Im having difficulty figuring out a fair Points system. I would like to have it based on
1. Number of players in each tourny
2. Buy in for the tourny (Tournaments may have different buy-ins
3. Players final rank.

I would really appreciate any input as I cant seem to get a 'fair' system that balances everything equally (ie. 1st place in a 10 person $50 tourny should be worth the same number of points as 1st in a 5 person $100 tourny). Granted if that would not be considered fair, please correct me.

Thank you everyone in advance,

Captain Farf

  • Hey FARF:

Have you looked at the way IPR does this?

  • Here is how I calculated KPS Points when I ran the KPS a couple months ago...

The Keatsway Poker Series (KPS) is a series of 6 tournaments running Friday nights from January to April. Each tourney is an opportunity to earn KPS Points (top 3 scores count towards your total). KPS Points are earned in the following ways:
-Base points: 1 point for each position (40th=1pt, 39th=2pts... 1st=40pts)
-Collapse points: 1 point for surviving the first table collapse
2 more points for surviving the second table collapse
3 more points for surviving the third table collapse
4 more points for making the final table
-Money points: 1 point for each dollar of your payout divided by your buyin (incl. rebuy if applicable)
-Bounty points: 1 point for each bounty chip won
