Wader Trip Report
OK, So the good news is that I made it through the first day, the bad news is I was at 40K and now I'm down to 15325K. We played for 15hrs yesterday startin at noon and finishing up around 3:30AM. First hand of the tourney I get KQH in BB, late position makes it 150 to go button calls and I call. Flop comes QQ8 rainbow. I check raiser bets 350, button calls and I just call, turn comes 10s, I check raiser checks and button checks. River comes 3c, I fire 1200 and raiser folds button calls and shows QJ and I take down a nice pot for the very first hand.
Through the first day i get moved 5 times, one table I played 2 hands and then they break the table. Anyways my first table was good, very tight, so i played aggesive and left that table with about 18K. The third table I was at was a different story, one guy was runnung it he had about 30K in front of him and used his chips very well, I tightened up and left that table with about 28K. The last table I was at was with Tex Barch (final tabled last year). Another good table (TIGHT). I built my stack up to 40K. I was stealing quite a bit and raising limpers with any 2 cards in LP. One hand there was three limpers to me in the cutoff I look down at Q3o (blinds are 150-300 with 25 ante) and raise it 1200 more....all fold. The reason Im telling you about me stealing lots and raising limpers is because there was a German (tight aggressive) player (2 to my left) with about 50K when I sat down there and I know that he knew what I was up to. So my first battle with him I had KQs in the cutoff and made it 1100 to go, he re-raised from the SB 2000 more. Depending on the villan I probabbly fold but I know that he had been watching me so I call. Flop comes AJ6 with two diamonds. He fires 3000 I raise to 6000 and he insta folds. A while later I pick up KK and get two callers and take down the pot on the turn for a nice pot. My final confrontation with the German is when I am once again in the cutoff with JJ blinds are now 200-400 with a 50 ante. I make it 1600 and he re-raises me 3000 more and I call. Flop comes KQ9 rainbow. He fires 6000 very quickly. Easy fold......well not yet. A couple things, this gut is tight aggresive and he ALWAYS does a C-Bet. One more thing was he had a tick, his head would move slightly....like a twitch. Anyways I wasn't sure if that ment good hand or bad hand yet so I really couldnt go on that. Anyways I call his C-bet and turn card is a K......I love it he checks and I check. River comes a 10 and then he fires out 7000. Now I have a middle staight and i end up making the call which was a bad call. He's not going to bet there without a strong hand unless he's bluffing and that was not a bluff bet it was a call me bet. Anyways he has AJ and I lose a monster pot. So here I am in my room puking because I cant get that hand out of my head. Two things 1) bad river call 2) I should not have got involved in that pot after the flop at this stage in the tourney, sure I would have had a big stack but what if I lose (I did).........now Im fighting to survive.

Go get 'em.
Have you been at any tables with some crazy all=ins yet?
So, I assume that when you continue play, blinds will be 300/600 with an ante? 15K isn't too bad dude, I'm sure there are a lot of players in much worse shape than you are.
Day 2 will be very interesting. It will be very different than day 1. First day jitters are gone. There will be many players who are just happy making it to day 2 and will be ripe for the picking. The lag guys with the big stacks, will look to mix it up and build bigger stacks -- they too are ripe for the picking. Look out for the dangerous players with big stacks though. Stay focused and keep your eye on next level.
Go get em!!
Cheers

Wader... you are poised. Relax and make that same "blink" K high call. It's in you to do it.
You are better than you think you are. All that is left is the proof.
Chris,
Yeah I've seen some wild plays. At my last table the blinds where 200-400 50 ante. There was an older guy who was TIGHT. I seen him call one time and then fold on the flop. He's in the cutoff+1 and has about 14K in front of him. It gets folded to him and he PUSHES with AJs and gets called by the cutoff with KK. He flops an A and takes it down, him sucking out wasnt the wild part it was his push that left me scratching my head. Also I noticed a lot of over betting preflop, blinds 50-100 and guys making it 900-1000 to go.
Devin,
I thought they where 300-600 aswell but I think they are going to be 250-500 50 ante.
Magi,
Thanks for the pointers I will definately keep them in mind.
Boxcard,
Thank you very much!! This helps a lot. The guy in seat 8 I played with on my last table and he is tight. I have to smaller stacks that will be in the blinds when I'm in the cutoff that I can hopefully pick on a little, they will be in allin mode soon though so I better pick my spots.
Dave,
Thanks, Hopefully me reads are on and I get at least a couple hands to fight with early.
Thanks again everyone,
Wader
Cripple Hand:
Last hand before dinner break. There are three limper's to me, which is different because nobody had been limping anywas I look down at two black Aces. I raise to 4000 blinds are at 400/800 with 100 ante. All fold except for one limper who calls. Flop comes 9910 with two hearts. He checks (has roughly 14K behind) if i bet half his stack he might get suspicious and I have a reckless image right now so I ponder for a while and then go allin. He goes into the tank and I start acting (breathing hard rubbing my face etc) he finally calls and shows 77, turn 8 river J. and I'm left with just over 20K. I cant complain about this hand. I talked to him later and he put me on a bluff he thought I had AK or something similar (and he was a rock).
Rail Hand:
With 20 min. left for the day I get 1010 in the BB and late position raises to 4K I have about 17K the SB pushes for about 26K. Now I would usually fold but I'm on a short stack, the SB has been pushing his chips in lots with no callers, and his jugular was about to pop out of his neck when I told him "That was my move". So I felt I had the SB beat but wasn't sure about the original raiser. I know he has to have a strong hand to call if I push as well he would be left with about 8K if he calls. I decide to call original raiser folds and SB turns over AQo, flop comes no help but he turns and rivers Q's.
The allin button is a round card capper that you can throw into the middle of the pot if you want to go allin. If you do it by mistake and throw it in you are still considered allin. So my allin button got thrown...........into the garbage.

Sounds like you played some great poker. If not for the 77 hand you'd be well in there. Don't feel badly, luck isn't always on our side.
