Alternative to "Club Games"
As most can tell, I've been thinking about this a lot recently, both the "which section" issue and the bumping problem. The post by Nexus-Poker yesterday gave me a different view about the issue, and how it is adversely affecting the clubs as well. This has led me to wonder whether a "Club Games" section is the right solution. With that in mind, I'll throw out a different idea for consideration, and Neil and the mods can decide on it in the future. I'd be interested in hearing feedback from the clubs as well, since I think they can be a big part of the solution.
My idea is this, simply eliminate Home Games, and create 3 sections called "Regular Games", "Regular Tournaments", and "Special Events".Â
Regular games would contain details about cash/ring games, whether it is a club game or a home game. No bumping would be required, since all the clubs/home games would each have a single post. Sloth could also allow clubs to create a new post every few months to ensure their clubs stay current and near the top (making it easier for members looking for games) while eliminating the almost constant bumping.
Regular tournaments would follow the same pattern as regular games, and this could include club tournies such as those held every week at The Airport Club or The Unit, as well as home games such as Chinguacousy (if they didn't already have their own forum ).
Special events would be all the one-offs. This could host the majority of what is currently in Home Games, such as "anybody want to play tonight", Bristol's, WestSides, etc.
This change would totally eliminate the need to worry about raked/non-raked and club/home, and also provide direction on when updates are allowed (for the 2 regular sections), thus limiting the bump problem. It would also side-step any tricky legal issues or subjective decision-making.
There are probably a bunch of holes in this plan, and I'm sure there are better ideas out there. But if we all work together (members, home game hosts, and clubs), I'm sure we can find something workable for everyone, without making Sloth "choose sides" and make a bunch more rules. Just a thought.

I understand that this issue is a HUGE one for the current moderators to define and place controls on, and that their own time is limited. However, I too have been quite dissatisfied with the bulk of postings being made in the Home Games section currently. It's WAY out of hand.
I want this issue to go away as much as Beanie, and for that matter, all the moderators, do. For the sake of simply defining what is and is not a home game or club game, and providing separate arenas for each, and having competent moderation of each, this issue will be done and over with, and the bitching can stop, and we can get back to having fun on this forum again.
Again, I want to offer any assistance in any way to help resolve this soon.
Thank you for your efforts.Â
:Dhello friends
very well by the forum
and thanks to let participate to me
I like to play to me with you in the matches
and good luck in games
bye
Holy cow.....c'mon.
Read the Rules brefore you post!!! Now you're going to get banned for multiple posts!!
I like beanies ideas, but I think it could be simpler. A Home Games section for, you know, Home Games, and a Non-Home games section, for clubs, bars, halls, whatever.
heeey….
I feel it was an error is not for as much ok .......
it does not have because to be offensive
but it offend can the rules post
perhaps 'clubs' and 'home games' with a sub-section for infrequent home games such as the 'anyone want to play tonight' threads, seperate from the scheduled, weekly games?
if someone wants to have a 'regular' game of poker they will post in regular games, if someone is having a special event, like a charity event, they will post in Special Events.
It will just add to the confusion.
For example I can see Bristol events fitting into two categories - regular tournaments for his POY games and special events for his one-offs. Hence now I would need to surf two sections to make sure I don't miss any Bristol games.
