WPT Satelittes at Bristol St.

Hi all,

All of the above options refer to the post that Wes started. I'm reprinting the Step format below for reference.

Each Step has it's own benefit/drawbacks, (amount of play v. amount of people we send) so I'm interested in hearing your thoughts. In addition, I'd like to hear what people think about everyone competing in a Bristol Street Super Sat., but not moving on to Fallsview, getting a piece of the winner. (ie. 0.5% - 1% range)

Let me know what your thoughts are! I'd like to run one or two super's over the next couple months.
Step 1
$90 ($73 + $17) Single table. Winner receives a Step 2 $640 satellite voucher entry, second receives a replay satellite voucher entry at $90 level.
$800 in starting tournament chips, 10 minute blind levels.
Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.

Step 2
$640 ($607 + $33) Two table. Winner receives a Main Event entry, second receives a $1,200 satellite voucher entry, and third receives a replay satellite voucher at $640 level.
$2,000 in starting tournament chips, 20 minute blind levels.
Fridays.

Step 3
$10,300 Main Event Entry. Payment accepted includes cash, Visa, Mastercard, Markers, Certified Cheque, Bank Draft, or entry voucher obtained through satellite.
$20,000 in starting tournament chips, 90 minute blind levels.
October 25th.

  • I voted for the "$90 Step 1," which I interpreted to be that the first prize will be at least $640 cash for the winner to enter the Step 2 satellite at the Fallsview Casino.  For example, if there are 32 players, the buy-in would have to be at least $20.

My interpretation of a vote for "$640 Step 2" would be that the first prize will be $10,300, which means that 32 players will have to buy-in for over $320 each (10,300 / 32).  Is a $320+ buy-in what the Step 2 voters want, or did I misinterpret the options?

  • As it's a super satellite, I believe it means that if you vote for a step 1, the winner will receive a step 1 prize, if you vote step 2, the winner receives a step 2 prize. etc.

I really doubt that most bristol street goers will buy in for a $640 for a chance to win 10K.
  • Does a vote for the last option, $10K, mean that Bristol is thinking of hosting the WPT itself.....
    :D
  • Hey Rob

I'll make the drive from Oakville for $50 or $100. I think a $50 rebuy would be cool - but only up until level 3 or 4. Some extra cheese on the pizza...

Definitely keep me in the loop for whatever you are running. I am probably going to play 2 satellites a month to qualify for the WPT.
  • Just to end the confusion, if I buy-in for $10.3k how many $640 seats can I win? I need to know as the $10.3k is a good chunk of my bankroll.

    Thanks

LOL!! Come on, Jeff. The $10,000 buy-in Bristol Street event is *NEXT* year.

Sign me up. Do you take monopoly money?

  • Where is Brisol Street? I would be very interested in driving up to play in a Step Two.
  • It's in Waterloo.
  • OK, excuse the ignorance from the american. But, I mapquested waterloo ontario, and it is about a 3 hour trek from my house. Is Bristol Street a casino? I could't find it on google. I would drive the 3 hours, if I could make a weekdend out of it and play some live poker for a few days.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Troy
  • No, it's someone's house...there is a casino close by
  • OK, thanks for the clarification. Well, I will check back. But to the original post, I would be interested in a Fri. or Sat $640 Step 2 tourney and I would probably bring at least one other player with me. So we only need 18 more :D

    Which casino/poker room is nearby?

    My email is ottotroy@hotmail.com
  • Brantford charity casino, it is a limit cash room...I doubt that KW players will be playing a $640 freezout, I think they are planning a lower buy-in wehre winners get a $640 seat to play at Fallsview
  • I thought that a $10,300 first prize was one of the options being considered by Zithal. If the seat winner of the Bristol super satellite cashes in at the Main Event, then a portion can go back to the other players of that super satellite. I think there were around 70 players in the "Legends of Bristol" multi-day event, so the buy-in can be reasonable.

There will be a lot of people that are going to end up spending $640 or more in attempting to go to the $10,300 WPT North American Poker Championship. They will play the $90 and/or $160 satellites at Fallsview Casino and if they have not won a Main Event seat by mid-October, they will take one final shot for $640 or $1,200. It seems to make a lot more sense to use that money to play in more rake-free satellites plus a super satellite where you get a stake with the winner.
