Automatic Call?
Here is a hand that occurred in a home game I played last night.
Blinds are currently 50/100, you are the BB, after you post you have about 2500 in chips.
It gets folded to a player in early position (about UTG+1 or UTG+2) goes all-in for 425.
Everyone folds around to you, is an automatic call? If no what is the minimum hand you need to call?
The player who went all-in is a loose player who like to play a lot of A-X or K-X suited so it is possible he has a hand like that but with only about 425 chips he could be sitting on anything as he knows when he is short stack it is push or fold time.

325 to call a 575 pot. And it won't put a big dent in my stack.
Meh. I would call with any pair, suited connectors above 7 or KT+, A8+. Definitely not with 54o...
Well the lesson on that one was "don't bluff a calling station", but being you never played against Max and didn't know the type of player he was there was no way you could know that.
It's likely the short stack is pushing with any paint card and is just trying to steal the blinds.
with Queen-9, I hurt myself with a call.
Seriously, I call with any paint, pairs, suited connectors, or Ax suited.
aside from it being a fifth of my stack i'm calling off to get rid of him, you have to think of other things.
1. he wins this hand he is now semi/comfortable with 10xBB and can wait for a big one.
2. He wins and he's gonna have momentum. you double him up once with a crappy hand, whos to say you arent going to do it again the next time he does it? you are gonna say to yourself, "My K7o is gonna get him THIS time".
3. there are other players in this game still and why not let them have him. they all folded to YOU and expected YOU to call. Screw them baby, I'm not gonna make a dumbass call for the sake of my opponents!
4. you fold and hes gonna start thinking he can get away with this blind stealing move many more times. He's going to try it again, %100. so why not make the fold with your marginal hand and LET him think he can abuse the blinds. so when he tries it the next time and you find yourself holding, show him how much better of a player you are then him. BOOYAH!!
this is just my opinion people, but i love folding my blinds to the one move donky on the short stack. and i love when the other payers fold their blinds too. more for me to win back. as soon as i put it in the middle those blinds werent mine anymore. thats how i see it.
one of these times i'm gonna wake up with the goods and teach him a lesson.
Johnny
LOL I know that now.
