Comments

  • Hand #1
-fold pre-flop, you're holding 3 clubs UTG, position in micro-limit Omaha is your friend
-ignoring that comment... flopping middle set, I would bet 2/3 to 3/4 pot
-since the turn isn't much of a scare card lead out strong again
    -same thing on the river

    Hand #2
-WHY ARE YOU BETTING 5/6 POT WITH TWO PAIR?!?!?!?
-two pair is garbage in Omaha
-AND YOU ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF POSITION!!!!
-build the pot when you have the nuts
-if you are just drawing to the nuts, or have a strong but vulnerable hand, try to keep the pot smaller

    Hand #3
-fold pre-flop just like hand #1
-good raise on the flop when you hit your set.  NEVER SLOW PLAY!!!
-however, if you had gotten re-raised there you would probably be up against middle or top set
-your opponents' hands here show you just how two pair usually gets pwned

    Hand #4
-good hand pre-flop, I would make the 4BB flat call any day
-TPTK is garbage... don't even think for a second you have the best hand
-drawing to the nut flush you want to keep the pot small
-I would have lead out for 1/3 pot (i.e. the same amount that it was raised to pre-flop)
    -FOLD ON THE TURN!!!!
-think to yourself, what might he have flat-called the pot bet on the flop with
-the answer should be: a set, or open-ended (or a flush draw, but count that out b/c that's not going to bet the pot on the turn even after you show weakness by checking the turn)
-either way, you are way behind and DO NOT HAVE ODDS to call that turn bet

-sitting 5-handed with 3x the buyin isn't going to be as profitable as a full table, it's time to find a new table
-it makes you way more likely to double someone up... just as you did :D

  • Post flop in Hand #1, I forgot to raise the pot. After that I was jammin it!

For hand #2, I was sure that I was ahead, and he was on a diamond draw. Which he was. I didn't expect him to river a set!

Hand #4 - I knew that I TOTALLY misplayed this one, but I was married to my draw. The river call was my inner donkey coming out!!

    Thanks for the advice, g2!!

ps..you would fold a pair in a mirco limit CG? Could you explain why? Maybe it's because I'm a FLH player, but if the pots isn't raised, I'm in!! I did fold a pair pre-flop a few times after a raise or more.

    You're welcome Johnnie.

For hand #2 you might want to check/call on the river... you know he didn't hit his flush, but there are tons of random hands out there that can beat you (78, Q10, KJ, or a set). My point is, he only calls the river bet if he has one of those.

  • Hand 1: I agree with G2 - it's not a nice hand, fold it. However, since you hit your set post flop, jam it... I rarely bet ANYTHING except pot in PLOM.

Hand 2: I disagree here with G2... you're hit top two pair, and it's not THAT bad in PLOM... you're against 5 other people, I throw out a pot bet to try and steal it there, or hope to buy whittle down the field. The only hand that beats you right now is the set, and since you can account for a few of the possible sets, you're not too bad here IMO. The Turn scares me since now you're beat by a higher two pair, and there's a possible straight... I dont mind the bet but once he called, it's check it down time. As G2 said, being out of position sucks because any bullying tactic may just lead to ammo for the other guy.

Hand 3: Yea.. not a nice hand, gotta fold that even with the pocket pair allure. Love all the post flop play though.

Hand 4: Nice starting hand, love the double suit! Flop is so-so for you, betting at it is just going to cost you money though, since if someone hits, you've given more ammo for them to fire at you... check / call for the flush draw.

Other than that, looks like you're getting a good grasp on the PLOM deal, my only suggestions is to look up a starting hand guide (I have a magazine with one somewhere), and just remember that whenever you attack (bet), you leave yourself open for another attack (more money in the pot to get raised at you).

A pp supports a good hand. It doesn't make a hand good. You have to hit your set to be of any use and even then you will be losing to straights and flushes and larger sets quite often. See g2's notes on hand #3. Sets work well 3 way at most. When many people are limping in you are just donating your chips to all the draws.

Two pp I would play, as your odds of flopping a set are quite good, but one pp is mostly trash.

If you want to limp, you should be looking to play 4 double suited connectors. Those are the money makers.

If you read around this forum, you'll find lots of people making a shitload of money off the donks at Omaha. I don't want to be one of those donks, so I'm asking for help.

I'm trying to get better at a game I really haven't played very much.

And why is something that you can make a sh*^*$%^load of money a joke???

Yeah I know. The only reason I over-emphasized the weakness of two pair in Omaha is because it was a $0.01/$0.02 table. At higher limits ($0.25/$0.50+) you can whittle the field like you said, but I've found at micro limits any draw will stick around to see the turn.
