"Chip and a chair" success stories

Thought I'd start a new topic with a positive twist (i.e. not bad beats!).

Do you have a story from online or live poker where you were waaaay down in chips and came back?

OK, here's mine:

6-person $20+2 SnG on FullTilt, 1500 starting stack. There are 6 players still at the table and I get down to 10 chips (my KQs lost to A8o).

First hand with 10 chips: i have J2o, push all-in (figuring I'm done) and hit a Jack to triple up to 30 - opponents had A8 and Q6
Next hand: I'm in the small blind and I get QQ, tripling up again to 90 - opponents had A9 and K2
Then: I get QJo in the BB and hit a Q to triple up again to 270 - opponents had T7 and K5

I fold a few hands and then get A7 and double-up to 540 against QJ. From there I kept it rolling and went on to win the SnG ($78) - a total of 9000 chips at the end (900 X my small stack of 10!)

  • 2/4 NL @ Nexus-Poker (happened at our club, I am not the hero).

Hero originally had $160 before losing a big pot. Hero had open-ended, straight flush draw on the turn. On the turn, hero is asked 'how much do you have left'? Hero replies 'about 100'. Villain bets $100, instead of saying 'all-in'. Hero says 'call', instead of 'all-in', & actually has $7 left. Hero misses at river & folds face-up (J10 s, J high).

What is interesting is that had villain bet all-in on the turn ($107) instead of $100, hero would've called & busted out. Also, hero didn't count his chips & when he said 'call', he assumed it was his all-in until he counted out his chips. If those 2 things didn't happen, hero would've never had the chance to comeback (except rebuy).

Hero has $7 left. Bets all-in on button (SB & BB call) & triples up w/ 87 s (straight).
$20 left. Folded to SB who bets all-in, hero calls from BB & doubles up w/ AK s (flush).
$40 now. Facing MP $20 raise, hero reraises all-in from SB w/ QQ & doubles up vs. AK o.

From the $80, hero went on to win many small pots. Hero went on to cash out for $400.
  • 1/2 NL.
    $100 Max buyin.
    Sat with ONE blakc chip.
    Left with $880.

Best showing with one chip I have ever had.
  • $20 home game tourney

It was heads up & I had 1/30th of the chips (villain had 29 to 1 chip advantage). Through sheer luck, I doubled up in 4 of the next 5 hands (making us about even). Villain tilted & donked off remainder.

I did not win because I'm a better player (which I am) but due to luck & villain going on tilt.
  • League game, I was left with 200 in chips, blinds at 200/400, and I was small blind, three of us left in the game. I got VERY lucky, doubled up two or three times in a row, then elminated one player.

Heads up play, I was seriously low stacked, but dealt J3o in the big blind. Opponent simply called the blind, and I checked. Flop comes up 335, I check, dealer checks. Turn card was trash, checked around again. I think he may have caught the river, so he went all in, I called, and I quickly doubled up on him, and we were about even in chips again.

From there, I just kept playing well and finally managed to take him out.

Earned the nickname TwoChipLouie after that one.

That was one of the stupidest plays of my life.....other being try to represent the flush when you actually had the flush. ACDC should post his 75 chips left come back.

Yessiree, Chris, I can always count on you to keep in the game :D Thanks bud!!

ACDC was at the other table when he got so shortstacked that game, so I wasn't witness to his comeback very much, but I understand he pulled off some miracle hands when he needed them.
  • a few days ago heads up on Pacific Poker 10 chips left with the blinds at 50/100. All in double up, all in double up....continued for 5 more times. Ended up taking it down. Once my 7 2 had his 5 2 dominated and it didn't split (I expected a split pot if someone didn't catch.
  • Absolute Poker 100K guaranteed was down to 390 chips at the 100/200 level and was in the SB then doubled up when my K5 sucked out on AK. A few hours later I got knocked out in 3rd.

On the other end, in a heads up match, had the guy down to 40 chips and proceeded to lose 5-6 hands in a row when he was all in. Eventually lost the match.
  • TWO CHIP LOUIE STRIKES AGAIN!! :D

  • Home game at The Ace & Eights. 11 players, starting with 1500 in chips. I dominate the room and have approx 11000 with 3 players left. Then the bad cards, bad beats, and overall bad play begins. Yadda yadda yadda, I'm down to less than 500. Double up. Double up. Beer. Beer. Double up. Whiskey. Long story short... I took first place and and a nice wad of green. (Cash, not weed). Ok... weed too :)
  • Just had one tonight on Stars, playing two $5.50 SNG's on-line.....doing great in one but donked almost all my chips off on a bad call, a bad steal, and a bad beat...still 9 left with blinds only 50/100 and I'm down to 295 chips. Scraped and clawed my way back to the final three and the hip lead when this happens. :D

  • My regular home game tourney, 27 guys start with $25 each, my buddy reaches the final table with $1.50 out of the $675 in play and takes the thing down after miracle double ups. Sickening but entertaining!
