From Daniel's blog there's a few issues that the players are having. First, they're paying $2,000 in juice to play the event and each of them got a $10 meal voucher from the casino.... wow.
Second they were using old cards, Andy Bloch(sp?) made a big deal out of it (by bending the cards that we're marked so that they became unplayable) and got a 10 minute penalty for it!!
After replacing most of the cards with new decks, the deck at Andy's table was still marked which set the table off again.
The other issue was the tournament format. Day 2 played from 2pm to 8am, THE NEXT MORNING (18 hours straight). They have 12 hours off to sleep before tonight's 9pm final table (which looks incredible!) It really should have been a 4 day event.
1- Jim Bechtel $841,000
2- Doyle Brunson $1,227,000
3- Chip Reese $1,756,000
4- Dewey Tomko $438,000
5- Andy Bloch $934,000
6- T.J. Cloutier $351,000
7- David Singer $745,000
8- Patrik Antonius $13,000
9- Phil Ivey $885,000
I expect to see a lot of changes to this event if it goes on next year.
Final table looks amazing.
I have the WSOP Main Event that Bechtel won on DVD off old Direct TV, was freaken hilarious watching the old broadcast.
Not surprised to see the list of oldtimers on the Final Table...all the good "old" games. These guys still know how to play.
Then there's Ivey...just pure talent.
Can't wait to see it. Too bad the organizers fucked it up. They are prone to do it, the players begged for this event, with the HUGE buy-in to weed out the
internet players. But, if they were going to fit it in, do it right. Used cards? Play through the net? THat's bushleague shit.

Truely unbelieveable.
