  • sev yur muney koaL. u gots 2 Bee twany won to pley
  • nope brent said if a person wins they can take the 11 grand instead
  • So is this 2 tournaments for 2 seats? One today and one on Sunday, both with satellites before?
  • That's my understanding Compuease. I'm heading down today to try my luck. mayb I meet cole 2day ther.
  • haha
who knows but if i went id take ur money boys so i wont go today lol just kidding
  • Now that the West Side Poker Club is helping to run this event, I have recommended it to friends.  I played in a $25 satellite yesterday.  I was surprised to see a lot of forum members there.

Unlike the satellites run by other WSOP organizers where you have a quick game of bingo then the luckiest player wins, WSPC used a much better satellite structure.  The starting stack is 1,500 chips (instead of 40 or 1000).  The blinds still go up every 10 minutes, but it was more gradual: 25/50, 50/100/ 75/150, 100/200, 150/300, 200/400, 300/600, 400/800, 500/1000 and capped at 600/1200!

I was in the same table as AcidJoe and Shopsy and they were to my left,  :'( so I would have been happy just playing for second and getting my money back.  I was shocked when I was the last forum member left on the table.  When it was down to three players, a guy tried to bluff me with an all-in bet, but I called and eliminated him.  It was down to heads-up between me and a lady.  I was much more aggressive than her, raising or calling with my favourite hands such as 2-3 (twice) and 3-8,  :fish: and eventually managed to take it down!  :wav:

Hopefully, Sunday's main event will be run the same way as WSPC's last event, e.g., Tournament Director on a screen showing the average stack and number of players left, disclosure of prize structure at some point, and posting the final results of who won what.  And bring some poker tables!  If I can get a friend to bring his poker tables, can they be used?

So, compuease, cole and others, come on down on Sunday.
  • It would be so good if someone from this forum got to come to to the main event.
    GL to all playing.
  • i will need directions for sundays event

  • Satellites start at 10:00 am with the tournament to start at 2:00 pm sharp. Last chance to be apart of this great tournament.
  • The turnout was very disappointing, but can the final table results be posted? I got a bad beat early, so I went to another tournament where I got 3rd place.
  • I'm glad I didn't make the trek out there then if the turnout was poor.

Joe, I definately understand your point.

I got a call Thursday night at 11:00 pm wondering if I would let a hand to the gentlemen wanting to put this event on. With 56 hours notice I think the event went pretty well.

We ended up with 30 people in the tournament and first and second decided to split 3600.00 Third got 800.00 and fourth got 400.00. Gabe the guy running the tournament would have the names.

Let me just say that this event would not have been the succuss it was without the support of all the fourm friends who joined us to make this happen. A big thank-you!

  • I know how much notice you were given and think you pulled off some pretty good satellite structure to win your way into the main event. The venue was excellent and I would go there again for a tourney. Gabe didn't seem to be organized and prepared for an event of this size. I'm sure if you had been involved in this for weeks leading up to it, rather than hours it would have been better.

I just have some expectations, especially when I drive 1.5 hours to get to a tourney. While I know you understand, I'm sure it went right over Gabe's head as to why I left on Friday. Mind you Niagara ended up being good to me so it wasn't a wasted night. This was the 2nd WSOP satellite I attempted to play and neither seemed to be a success. I guess organizers of such events need to look at why. I'm sure the size of the buy in shouldn't be an issue, but maybe there isn't a lot of people prepared to spend hundreds of dollars to play. I don't think a buy in of $250-400 unreasonable for these events provided they get the turn out so there is a prize pool outside of the trip. Definitely in future a few weeks of satellites to win an entry would be beneficial.
