Funniest thing I have ever seen at a poker table
I was playing at my regular $30 buyin Thursday night donkfest. Literally, I have never seen a skilled poker player at this weekly ~50 player tourney (other than myself I like to think). My ROI is over 600% playing not even ABC poker... the poker is so bad I only need the A, and I usually pull out the B for the final table.
Anyway, we were 6-handed and the blinds were 25/50 (first level, starting stack 1500, like I said its a donkfest). I was on the button. UTG limps as he did every hand (even 24o I saw once). Folded around, I fold some garbage. SB completes, BB checks, as per the usual. 150 in the pot.
Flop :kh :9s :qs
SB checks, BB checks, UTG bets 100.
SB folds, BB (a sloooowww calling station) calls... eventually. Pot is 350.
Turn :kh :9s :qs  :ks
BB checks, UTG bets another 100
BB takes his time... asks what the amount bet was... then fumbles with his chips... and makes the call. Pot is 550.
River :kh :9s :qs :ks :4h
BB checks, UTG pushes for 650 (BB has roughly 1000 left in his stack).
BB thinks about it... checks his cards... checks the board... then stacks the chips for the call... then says "Alright........ I......... call."
UTG looks disappointed and slowly drops his cards. Not mucked, just facedown on the table in front of himself.
Then BB flips over :jh :8s
I'm the dealer so I read out the hand "he's got J-high". It hits me... this guy just called all-in with J-high after checking his hand and the board.
I look at the UTG player. His eyes lit up... "you mean my 2s are good?!??!?!"
AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHHAHHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!
I do my best not to tap the [aquarium] glass, but once I got in my car later I remembered this hand and I could barely control my laughter.
You'd think that ANY hand willing to call an all-in on that board would surely beat a pair of twos. Apparently not.
Haha! I must apologize, you'll never get the last few minutes of your life back... sorry for wasting your time, I hope you at least got a laugh out of it.
