7 card stud help .

I was looking to learn straight 7 card stud. I know some of the basics, looking for more strategic advice. Anybody recommend any books/sights that might help me out? Thanks in advance.

Dave Scharf's book is pretty basic but good for getting started, and it covers both Stud and Hold'Em.  Plus it's on discount at Chapters, so you can get it cheap! After the basics, Super System wass pretty good.
  • Poker for Dummies will give you the basics of 7CS. Todd Brunson has a chapter on 7 CS High-Low Eight or Better in Super System 2.

Also Paradise poker has a variety of 7CS games including play money.

  • The real basics of stud, if you can see your beat FOLD, unless you have a large large draw. Also your 2 pair is most likely no good if you see a AA on board. After that it's just poker. Oh ya and bet the shit out of your 4 card flush after 4 cards.
  • Thanks for the help guys. I've skimmed the stud section of SS1 a while ago, but I didn't really retain anything. I'll go back to it. Ive tried the free play but found pretty useless(8 to a flop most of the time.) I'm going to stay away from the split pot games for now. Thanks again.
