Comments

  • Zero players from Vegas at the final table. That seems like it would be uncommon.
  • Apparently this event was not supposed to be telivised. But with Hellmuth going for number 10, Luske and Mercier at this table, I'm sure Espn is scrambling to get it taped.
  • The cities listed are the birthplaces of the players, not the current residence.  Most professionals like Phil Hellmuth may reside in Las Vegas, but very few were actually born in Las Vegas.

No, they list current residence. Negreanu is shown as from LV. Carlos Mortenson is shown as from LV. Hellmuth is from Wisconsin but now lives in CA.
  • Maybe Phil's parents moved...

    Hellmuth lives in CA.
  • What is the website link that lists the finalists with their home towns? Card Player and Poker Wire does not seem to show the home towns of the players.

  • Hellmuth is chip leader with 6 players remaining. Luske is 2nd and Mercier is 3rd.
  • Hellmuth and Luske heads up would be great TV.
  • This guy is good.

You can say what you want about Phil Hellmuth (and many people do), but you have to admire his reading skills. Eugene Todd is on the warpath, despite seeing Hellmuth's solid values on the raises decides to repop the 75,000 bet by shoving half his stack into the middle. Hellmuth accuses Todd of playing his A-J too aggressively, but lays down his A-Q face-up. Of course, if Todd actually has A-J it's a perfect time to tilt the poker brat. It is a perfect time to tilt the poker brat. Hellmuth can't believe Todd tables the A-J, we can expect Hellmuth to go on about this hand until maybe the next hand he plays.
  • Hellmuth & Cabanillas are head to head for the bracelet.
  • Has anybody found any information or photo of Jeff Cabanillas?  He seems to be totally unknown, even with Google.
  • Cabanillas wins!

Poor Phil! He gets rivered on his last hand as his trips get un over by a flush.
