cash game question...

Hi
I have a question. I have :qc :qd and I am raised $35 in a 2/5 nl game by :ah :ac. He only has another $35 left playing short stacked. So it would essentially be $70 to me to reraise and put him all in. He is NOT a tight player at all either, middle of the road. I on the other hand have $400. My question is...Is there any way that I played this hand wrong? I honestly do not think any pro would not have raised 2nd to act at a ten person table to limit to heads up...plus no way I think he could have been put on aces. I just want the opinion on the way I played the hand. BTW I caught a Q for trips. :)

  • You didn't mention your position (or your opponents). However, the raise is 4BB, which is right in the "normal" raising range, which covers a lot of hands for a tight player, let alone an average one. In my opinion the only mistake would not be putting him all-in - sucks he had rockets, nice you got lucky.
  • sorry bout not mentioning the position ...he acted first to go 1 off the BB and I was 3 off the BB and reraised...I ALSO think I played it the only way possible considering HIS stack and MINE. I dont mind losing, I am a good sport, I just want to know I made the "pro" move. Thats all. I was talking it over with other players privately afterwards and they told me I should have smooth called. I honestly think that if I do that I get MORE action than QQ really wants?
  • "The 1/2 game is right over there sir. Your welcome for the double up"
  • If you had only smooth called, and didn't catch your Q on the flop (I'm assuming it came on the turn for you), would you have called his allin bet, seeing you missed the flop?

    You played it right.
  • Correct play, desired results- for you, good job.
