  • It was only a matter of time. I can't believe that this hasn't garnered more attention.
  • Wouldn't stop me from playing. How are they going to prove it. Short of stars or party giving out info which is not legal as far as I know, they would have to hack my computer and sniff around to find proof. The latter is even more ilegal. What judge would issue a warrant to search my home and computer for gambling software. What will the charge, possesion with intent to distribute?
Its a joke if you ask me...

Actually the proving it would be fairly simple, no different then proving child pornography on your computer and they can certainly do that. However here in Canada I think it is a moot point, we are much more tolerant of gambling here than most US states. I'm with you, it's a joke to think it can be controlled through laws.
  • Actually, for something so paramount, I'm very surprised there isn't more comment about it State Side. I've only come across a couple of websites that have even mentioned it, asking for members to voice their concerns to their elected representatives. Mostly, though, it's been VERY quiet. Guess Americans in general either don't care, didn't think it would actually happen, or believe it will just go away. Still needs to get Bush's stamp though, and I doubt very much he will. He's much too busy blowing shit up and getting young Americans killed to bother with gambling.
  • Imagine getting arrested in Vegas for the felony of playing online poker?
  • I would find it really funny if Bush agreed. Hell, isn't poker a really big TEXAS game?
  • I saw this article last week and got me to thinking.

IF this was the beginning of a mass sweeping of other states following suit and it scared enough people, with the majority of online poker players coming from the states, you could see  very little new $$ come into the game, as well as a mass exodus of existing $$ out of online sites.

With a mass exit the $$ that is in your online account(s) might not even be accessible, no?  Sort of like " It's a Wonderful Life" , everyone waiting in line with the possibility of the bank collapsing wanting their $$ now " we don't have your $$, your $$ is in Bill's house", magniyfing the problem even worse, creating a self-fullfilling demise?

Not being a chicken little, but with the collapses of Enron, nortel, World Com... don't say it couldn't happen.
  • Who put my Stars bankroll in Bill's house? Lee's Lambo - now that I could understand.

Actually, if you look into Stars, you'll see they say something about all the cash deposits being safely stored and guaranteed by a third party. I believe that is to assuage these fears.
  • What a joke. A felony in the same class as possesing child porn? Unreal...
  • For U.S citizens only. I don't think this will end up affecting anyone. Me thinks the government will only targest companies based in the U.S, cause they really cant do anything to you if you're playing with a site based in the Carribeans.
  • Maybe Cypress Hill can make a comeback by performing "Legalize It" at the Party Poker World Open.
