Atlantic City Trip Report
Hi all,
Was in AC a few weeks ago, played in some tournies, and have a quick summary for ya'll.
Thursday - Checked into the Tropicanna and my buddy proceeded to dive tackle another buddy in the room within 3 minutes, putting his foot through a glass frame of a picture on a wall. Nice start...
We head down to Caesars to see what's going on with their tourney, and realize they have a 3pm $80+$15 and it's 3:03pm! Damn! I ask the Tourney Manager if he can squeeze three of us in, and realize there are only 25 people entered anyways. He's very accommodating so we sit down. The room is off the the side and raised a few steps, not stuck in a corner, which is nice.
First man down is Steve, out after a few people. You start with $10k in chips, no rebuys/add-ons and fairly slow blinds. Enjoyed the pace, and the dealers were great. I finished in 9th, but not before agreeing with my other buddy, Jay, to split whatever we won, since we both were at the final table.
When there was 4 left, the tournie manager suggested a 4 way split! I don't have a huge amount of experience in casino tournies, but I've never seen this before. So one person held out, then 20 minutes later agreed to the chop. Each walked away with about $560, which gave me $280Â Â :D
+++++++++DAY 2+++++++++++++
$120 + $30 (I think) at the Tropicanna, $10,000 guaranteed first place. This had 131 people in it, and their poker room is massive. They have a specific tourney area, plus another two "rooms" with cash games.
Starting stack of $5,000 with a add-on of $5,000 for $100 at the end of the first hour.
This went quicker than the Caesars one, in relation to blinds and staring stack. Another good room, washroom 15 feet from most tables, so easy to get out on a break. I lasted until 18th, Jay finished in 11th. top 6 paid. Steve, as before, didn't do to well, finishing around 120th and cursing poker tournaments.
I got knocked out when I pushed in with pocket 6's pre-flop, only to have my neighbour apologize and call with pocket k's.
Played in a cash game $1/$2 afterwards for fun, but broke even after playing and realizing it would cost roughly $15 to see most hands to the flop. Kooky table.
More soon! Have to get the kids to be
