World Poker Exchange: No Rake
I read in Cardplayer that there's a 'no rake' site called World Poker Exchange (www.worldpx.com). They rake as any other site, but at the end of the week they give you back 100% of what they raked from you.
No catches, they're hoping the influx of poker players will also use their bet sites, where they'll make $. I created an account, only issue I had is their Sit & Go lacks traffic.

I pay upwards of 2-3 thousand dollars every MONTH in rake. I would play at WPEX if they accepted my payment option (use my bank or electronic transfer), but they don't, so I don't. I am probably going to get a credit card soon just so I can play there. No rake is HUGE and anyone who plays more than a few hours a month knows this. This site is amazing. Not only are the games decent but if this site gets really popular the pressure it is going to put on the big sites is amazing.
For the curious, the reason they are offering rake free poker is because they are hoping to draw sports betting poker players to their site via their rake free promotion.
not alot of people but the games seem soft.. so are the mtt's
The only way to make it a realistic business model is to use poker as a loss leader for something more profitable. Like sports books. Then giving away the revenue from the average poker player (hovering around $500 in lifetime value) is still cheaper than aquiring and developing a sportsbook player (lifetime value of between $1200 and 2000).
What we believe will happen (and has happened with other rake free rooms - there have been 3 or 4 that have failed) is that the sharks go there cause the fish tend to free sites. Then the sharks eat all the fish and are stuck with tough games. What most of these players realize is that they do better in raked games against Noob's instead of what they save on rake.
At least, that's the history of these rooms.
