If you are that good, you should be able to build a proper bankroll quickly, so start at limits you can afford before moving up. If you are playing recreationally and can afford to keep reloading, ignore this. But if you're looking for a self-sustaining poker bank-roll, you should have at least 20 buy-ins for NL.

    $500 / 20 buy-ins = $25 NL (meaning .10/.25)
  • Thanks for your replay beanie, thye only problem with those low limit tables is that I cant focus to long at it. On those tables I cant play my best poker, I get rekless, start playing to many hands, couse that litle money doenst mean anyting to me

You are right when you say that you must have at LEAST 20 buy ins voor Nl. Maybe even 30 couse the swings there can be huge
  • Best of luck with it, Cole.

    LMFAO!!!!

Greg, were do you come up with this stuff?

The alternative is to buyin for more to get to the stakes where you feel you care to play your best (ie 4k or so for 200NL).

Alternatively, play the lower stakes and multitable if you find yourself "bored".

I suffer the VERY same problem.

I have managed to address with with (1) multi-tabling --- now six or seven it's like mainlining, baby and (2) using online poker for "training."

I HATE losing online. I play a lot lower online. I focus on one or two games (usually $50 SNGS) that I am trying to use as a learning tool. The other games (mostly $5-10 limit) I churn away for a small win.

The bottom line is this, however, if you constantly overplay your bankroll you will constantly go broke. I know, I did it from 1994 to 2001.
  • Thanks for your aswer Dave,

The next time I play online I will open 10 tables or someting:P. Its a must , maby when I get to 3 or 4 K I can start playing the limits that I realy want:)

Why do you think that you hate losing on-line for?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm the same way, I'll play $50-$100 SnG Freeze out/re-buys or play $3-$6 to $5-$10 Limit and have no problem losing to a bad beat but when I play a $5 or $10 SnG or $1-$2 Limit on-line I get pissed when I get a bad beat.

If you don't play well with low stakes, you have two options: play for more money, or discipline yourself mentally to always play your best game, regardless of the actual stakes.

It's an unpopular suggestion (since I never see anyone else giving it) but if you can't raise the stakes, that's the only option.

Perhaps work on some method where you play to earn money for a SNG, so if your Bankroll is $500 and you are playing $25 buy-in SNG but prefer $200 buy-in, wait until you've earned $200 and use that as your buy-in. Then go back to the $25 until you earn another $200 and so on. Honestly, my first suggestion is better than this one (3 high is better than my last suggestion)
