My Degree Turning Point
Well the fun had to come to an end at some point (for most of the final 36). I played my semi final round yesterday at 1:30pm starting with 500,000 in chips and 1,000/2,000 blinds. I really thought I was out of it (mentally), even after the first hand. I get dealt Q10 of hearts and call a small raise. The flop comes with two hearts and I bet it down to the river and lose about 150k of my stack when I don't hit my flush. After this hand I am the low stack for about 30 minutes and then I start to slowly chip away at the blinds with small raises. Although the blinds were at 2/1, the pre-flop raises were in the 50k to 100k (very sloppy poker). So when I get dealt good cards (AA, JJ), I slow play them pre-flop and it pays off nicely. One hand I am dealt JJ and the flop brings J66. I end up making about 300k in chips on this hand alone and the next hand brings me a straight on the turn. After these couple of helpful hands, I am the chip leader . Hopefully my come back will be highlighted in the two hour segment and they won't edit out all my exciting hands. For my last hand, at this point I have be burned a couple of times by bad calls and an all-in river card so my stack is down to about 380k. I am dealt 72 OS in the BB with $40k/$20. I check and the flop comes something like 3710 (w two diamonds). I bet out for $50k and I get one caller. The turn brings a 2 (non diamond) and I am sitting with two pairs. I bet $100k hoping to scare away the one caller (who may have a flush draw) and after a minute he decides to call. The flop brings the Q of diamonds so I check. My opponent goes all-in and has me covered. I know I am beat but am pot committed so I call and he shows two diamonds to take down the hand. My biggest mistake (after having some time to replay this hand) was not going all-in on the turn. I'm not sure if he would have still called this bet being his pot odds would have been reduced but I guess I will never know. What's interesting is that this is the very same situation from the first hand where I was on the other end of the same raise, but I didn't hit my flush. Overall it was a great experience and although I didn't win any cash, I still had a great tiime. Thanks again for all the support and I can't wait to see the final product in Sept on TSN.

I think I may have been sitting in the seat next to you (left side) when this guy called your big blind. Did I ask you if you had a cell phone? This guy had a huge stack and was still mixing it up taking people out on each hand. I guess that's part of poker and he had to think about himself if he got dealt good cards. He did seem like he was on a mission. I don't recall seeing him in the final 36 though.
