Sh!t - I never thought of it that way - I would have got paid much more for being involved in the pot.

I think that the general procedure is

1/2 of the Bad beat jackpot goes to the "loser" of the hand when your aces full get beat, so 555AA here gets nothing but a bad beat story, but Quad aces gets 50% of the payout

1/4 of the pot goes to the dirty bugger that beat him, in this case the straight flush.

The remainder (~3%) is distributed to the rest of the table....

Now, this is a casino norm, so if this is the case, the payouts would be as follows:

Non-involved players (including the small boat player): $30 for a total of $240 paid out

Straight flush hand --> $240

AAAA hand --> $480

So even by losing, he did just fine...

Of course, i could be wrong and Titan may do things differently.

In this case the guy with :ah :ac :ad :as actually ends up ahead - wouldnt be the same at a 5-10 table - but at 2-4 you want your aces cracked.
