WPT at Fallsview - now offically official in my head :)

When I went to try my luck at a Degree walk-up seat today, the plasmatronic screens right in front of the casino were displaying the usual bore of Regis and (omg) Kelli, the latest concerts and then yes, after a double take "Fallsview Casino Resort - Canadian home of the WPT / super sats to start soon"

With all the talk on the forum about this I was 90% sure of it coming. I am one of those people though who don't believe it till I see it.

Well, I saw it.

  • World Poker Tour Adds a Stop in Canada

Filming of Season Five Starts May 14

The World Poker Tour has been to the Caribbean and to France, but in October it will travel to a place it has never been before: Canada.

The third North American Poker Championship will take place not at the Bellagio this year, but at the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort October 25-29.

“By staging the North American Poker Championship in this beautiful Canadian casino, we put out the welcome mat for all poker enthusiasts in Canada and truly lay down the gauntlet to see who can reign supreme on the continent,” said Steve Lipscomb, CEO and founder of WPT Enterprises, Inc.

Several WPT stars are Canadians, including Daniel Negreanu, Gavin Smith, Bill Edler, and Evelyn Ng. The stop in Canada will mean the WPT will leave the country three times in season five, which begins at the Mirage May 14. The tour also stops in the Bahamas and Paris.

  • From last years North American Championship Schedule:
All Pre-Main Event Tourneys are NLHE
    $1000+60, then $1500+70, then $2000+80, then $2500+100, then $1000+60, then $1500+70, then $2000+80, then $2500+100, then $3000+100. End Pre-Lim Tourneys

    Satelite: $1000+60

    Main Event: $10000+200

*Note all winners of pre-lim and main event won seats into $25,000 + $500 entry into 2006 WPT at Bellagio. But this was probably due to the fact that it was held @ Bellagio. Good chance winner of each pre-lim will win a $10000+200 seat (Obv seat taken out of prizepool).
  • Only thing I am wondering about is how they play on fitting over 400 entrants. I hope they don't try 4 day 1s lol.
  • I estimate about 700-100 myself. The first on in Canada? Heck yeah.

Oh and don't worry - the resort has a lot of free space :D.

    TONS

Most people have only ever seen the gaming floor and the ballroom (where the Degree tourney is held). But there is thousands of square feet of convention space in the Grand Hall.
  • How does one get into the satelites?
Can you reserve a spot or is it first come first served?

If I want to watch the tourney live, do you just show up?

Can someone confirm the dates? Poker Pro Mag (and the WPT site) lists Oct 23-27 (M-F).

  • They will probably run 1 table $1000 satelites, and 2 days before like most WPT Events, run $1K MTT Satelites. I didn't know they closed down Fallsview, so I am sure they will have plenty of space now :)

There's the prblem, some places it's reported as "The third North American Poker Championship will take place not at the Bellagio this year, but at the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort October 25-29." which is W-Sun, but the WPT site says 23-27 which is M-Fr.
