Tax Withholding Card for winning in USA/WSOP

Last year they had signs around the room at the Rio about the tax card players needed to have in order to not have 30% of their winnings withheld.
I have done online research in attempt to grab one for this summer, but can find nothing!
I think the reason I can't find it is because it wasn't only for canucks.
I am hoping, Dave, that you know the name of this thing so I can find out how to get one quick.
Any help?

Thanks
Kev

  • You playing at Turning Stone this month?
  • Devin, you dont know the card im talking about? You had 30% withheld last years super-WSOP cash?

I would love to go to Turning Stone again, was there for March madness, but I heard it's all booked up this time around.
I know all the online 18 and 19 yr olds from around the States are flocking to TS for this series as it's summer time now!
If you know a way to get a room near Turning Stone, Id love to go :)
  • Hmmm.... it's all booked up? I called their hotline to inquire, and they said they had plenty of seats left for the tournaments themselves. I didn't ask about accomodations... I assumed if they had lots of seats for their tournaments, they'd have lots of rooms. Guess I'll have to call back and ask about that specifically.

Re: the tax form, I have PM'd you.

I just called TS, and they have plenty of rooms available for their series this month. $75/night is the poker rate.
  • I didn't see the signs you are talking about.

YOu are probably talking about an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). It used to come with a card (I have one) but it no longer does, as I understand it. So, I don't know what it would be. I am not sure if this card will get me off the 30% but I intend to find out...
  • Thanks for the help.
I have completed what needed to be done and can add some help for others, who if they travel to play in the US, NEED to do this. The other option is letting the casino keep 30% of whatever you cash for.
It is in fact called an ITIN number. I needed to fill out a form for the IRS, called a W-7 form, then ship it off to Philadelphia.
Some casinos keep the 30% and others don't. The bigger events seem to know they are supposed to be keeping 30% from foreigners.
WSOP as I mentioned had signs posted the whole time we were there (2nd half of last years WSOP) telling players that if they were not US citizens they would have 30% withheld.
These signs were posted on the walls between each of the cashiers cage lines in the main room at Rio.
My guess is that they will be on top of withholding money from us for the whole Series this year. Everyone going to play an event or more would be wise to get your own ITIN number.
