Friendly game - What's the Ruling

Here is the details:

Friendly home game so I don't care so much about the money as I do about just being right.

The game is limit Stud

The rules we agreed to - HU on the river is unlimited betting.

Player 1 and Player 2 are HU on the river.

Player 1 bets

Player 2 raises

Player 1 3 bets

Action on Player 2 and he says - "Do you want to go all-in?"

Player 1 says yes and immediately flips over his cards.

Player 2 then states that he in fact does NOT want to go all in

Did Player 2 make an offer that is binding - or did he ask a question to angle and therefore is not bound by it?

Comments

  • it's a question... not binding at all
  • just a question. nice angle. guess it worked.
  • Well I guess I am wrong on this one... sigh.

    Now here is the kicker:

He actually DID want to go all-in. Right up until he saw my hand.
  • why did you show your cards then?

with limit, there isn't an 'all-in' move anyway. logically, yes but i don't think the 'rules' permit it. you take turns putting in your chips until they are all-in. i would hope that after the 8th or so raise the other guy might figure out he was second best...
  • Just a question. Since all-in isn't an option in a limit stud game. It was an angle that worked.
  • question. not binding at all. bit of a shady area since he actually did want to go all in, but he did not declare it, or push his chips in it would seem (since you apparently had agreed and flipped your cards faster than he could blink :P)
