Help Calculating BB/hr

This xBB/hr thing has me confused. What constitutes a BB?
I played the $1/$2 NL at Niagara...made $200 in 5 hours...how many BB is that?
Is there a standard calculation to come up with what is considered a BB?
Is it a multiple of the big blinds? A percentage of your stack?
If you are down is it negative BB?

Please help as I would like to start tracking my wins and losses.
Thanks.

  • BB is "Big Bet". In a 1/2 game, the small blind is .50, big blind is 1, small bet is 1, and big bet is 2. So 200/2 = 100 BB
  • So every time you steal a blind you are essentially up 1.5 BB ?
  • BB/hr is usually used as a measure for limit games and is big bets/hr. In a no-limit game you can measure in terms of big blinds/hr and it's the same thing so stealing the blinds would be 1.5 BB. I don't know what a good winrate would be in a no-limit game though, the normal rule of 1-2 big bets/hr only applies to limit.

From what I've read, 4-13 big bets (or 8-20 big blinds) for NL
