Tournament Action...

i recently played in a 50 man rebuy tourney the other weekend and ended going home, confused.
early in the rebuy portion i was picking up blinds and catching decent raising hands, it seemed to me that i was playing way more hands that i liked however this table i was on, was ripe for the picking and i was cruising doubling my opening stack early.
what happen next was well... one of those days
by the way i really have to stop reading to many poker books, at least all in the same week,
on the botton i raised ace queen non suited got re raised and i just did n t think this guy had anything, and went all in only to lose to ace king.
to quickly advance to the end of re buy i have less than have of the original stack after re buy period and the first hand after rebuy i land ace ten unsuited. being in late position i get raised and re raised to all in before me so i toss these card and find the others to have qq, and kk. flop is ace 3 8, turn 10 , river 4
my goodness, my shortstack could have tripled
enough what haves, i get knocked out soon later and left the tourney so confused by my play, i now think I'm way over analyzing a simple game that has skill and lots of luck.
i am taking a well deserved break to reflect, and read other s post
Thanks for your time, and best of luck on your gaming...

i am taking a well deserved break to reflect, and read other s post > good idea
  • I hate rebuy tournaments. Everyone plays so reckless at the beginning that a 72 off suit usually ends up the winning hand. I say once your out your out. Rebuys give you a 2nd, 3rd... chance, i think that in tournaments you should only get one chance, then let see how reckless you play.
  • i still like the re buy,
i had the big explanation why but when i went to spell check it before i posted i lost it all and don t feel like spending 20 more mins rewriting it,
Do other on this forum like rebuys and why?
    I would love to hear.
  • i would rather not play rebuys, however, playingtight you can take advantage of peple playing loosely early-on tryingto double / triple up..

i do not rebuy generally, but i dont generally play rebuy tourneys..
  • First of all I appologize to the moderator or other. I just realized i could have added the poll I posted, right directly in my post Tournament Action. Once again sorry to to you's all.
I also agree that continuely playing tight aggresive in the early re buy portion of tournament can double you up and even triple you up. Thanks for your reply.
  • I really like the Pokerroom rebuy tourney's. One rebuy and one addon only. You know exactly the max you are in for to play the tourney. The donks rebuy and bust out, building the pot and if you happen to suffer a bad beat, you get a 2nd chance.

If I feel like having some fun I will play in some $1-5 unlimited rebuys as well.
  • AQ is tricky, read what Doyle Brunsen says about it. Good fold on the AT, you can expect both yout opponents to have pocket pairs.
  • Ace Queen, :ah :qs good old Ace Queen
thank you for the recomendation an reading Doyle's book.
    Which one?
    Super system?
