Do you call here?

The Villain has been playing pretty well, but has been in a lot of pots lately and is using
his stack to scare some folks out of the pot about once an orbit or so...do you call?

  • Yes, call. Hitting a set on the flop you're way ahead at this point. He was going to push regardless, thinking his ladies were good. Just a bad turn and river for you.
  • Ya. Don't sprain your wrist beating him into the pot.
  • You don't play small / medium pairs to make flushed or straights! It's a perfect flop for 33 you got exactly what you want get your money in!

Yes, it's an obvious call at this point, and that's what I did. But the results aren't what I want, lol.

I think the preflop raise was good, in late position. It got rid of anything weak. Trips is what I needed, otherwise, I'm likely
check folding to any strength after the flop. The higher PP ends up winning with the board in the end. I'll usually toss low pp in
early position. Anyone out there think tossing them in mid and late position too to avoid these types of things?

I've had quite a few of these lately and wondering if it's better to not even play them in tourneys against stacks that can bust me.
(i.e I hit trips or bail)
    Your thoughts?

(on the other hand, if the final 5 doesn't hit, I'm in 13th and have a huge stack at my table...and playing to win, not to simply limp into
the money...I like that idea even better and will likely make the same play in the future under the same circumstances)

    Thanks for your feedback
  • uhm yeah, there's no way you can fold... rough beat it looks like, but whatever... you can't think you are behind on that flop really.
  • agreed, easy call. you would have ideally put them all in if you thougth you'd get a call right? you were way ahead, just a bad runner-runner for his boat.
  • call hoping he was slow playing a big pocket pair, or hit two pair on the flop with some suited connectors. Might have flopped a straight, even so you'd have outs to hit the full house.
