There aren't many folks looking for players in toronto there, the games are out there...anyone knows of low limit holdem let me know..pm me if uncomfortable with making it public
There's a game in Mississauga that's good. I think it's 3/6... possibly 4/8--I haven't been in a long time. A very nice woman named Betty runs it. I don't mind posting about it here (if nobody else does) because she has her game listed at pokerpages.com, along with her email:
Really nice bunch of people, very loose (naturally, at those levels), and she runs a royal flush jackpot. Game usually starts at 8:30 or so and goes to the wee hours of the morning, Tuesday through Sunday I think. Only one table, so it's a good idea to arrive before 9 as I recall. No booze, if that's a factor for you, and it's a smoking table.
Fire Betty off an email if you're interested, and if you do go, please tell her that Devin says hi. I miss that game, but I moved up in limits so I'd just throw my money away if I went back. Let me know how it goes!
Yeah, she took a couple of days to get back to me as well. Maybe send her a 'just making sure you got my email' email, and if she still doesn't reply in a couple of days, let me know. I'll see if I can dig up her phone # somewhere, tho I'm not sure where it is. I'm out of town for the weekend in Edmonton (guess I'll check out Yellowhead Casino...) so I'll check this out when I get back.
They have 2 excellent dealers that rotate, and play if a seat needs to be filled. (Neither are there to rob you while they play... they are just playing to facilitate the game...)
Snacks/beverages/parking is free, and it's in what appears to be a 'nice' area, so I never felt uneasy about leaving at 4:00 am. As I mentioned, they also take a small portion of the pot for their royal/straight flush jackpot. Royal gets 100%, straight flush gets 50% I think, and it got way up there a couple of times.

You could also try the Palace Casino at the West Edmonton Mall (first place I ever played B&M poker!). There are at least 3 or 4 different casinos in Edmonton with poker rooms, but the Palace if the only place I've played at myself. When I was there it was mostly low-limit only (3-6 or 4-8).
I've noticed that western Canada has eastern Canada's butt kicked when it comes to poker. All the 'major' tournaments are out there, although hopefully that may change soon... thanks to Brantford and to events like poker4charity. There are like 6 casinos in Edmonton alone, and most are downtown!!!
I live in the wrong city.
I may check out the Palace, due to the fact that I'll be going with people who don't play much/at all. I don't think they'll like the idea of playing in a 20/40, and I want to be at their table, so I was expecting to have some fun at the lower limits.
Thanks for the tip!

ps: There's a casino in the mall?!? That is just too easy. In Toronto the powers that be make it very difficult to get to a casino; the driving conditions have to be good due to some of the 'roads' (especially towards Port Perry), and you have to settle in for a 1.5 hour drive. It's the drive back that gets sketchy, in the wee hours of the morning.
There's a lot more than you might expect in that particular mall. Don't forget it's a big tourist attraction, not just a "shopping mall". (Although I did actually go there for most of my mall shopping.)
Hockey rink, full size indoor water park with wave pool & water slides, dolphin show (I heard this was being phased out), carnival area with roaler coaster, mini-golf course, Playdium, etc, etc, etc.
It's just huge.

I know. "Well, I need a few things at Zellers, so I might as well go play cards after."
My buddy just came back from Toronto and he was telling me he went to one of those underground poker rooms where he watched a 5000-10000 limit game. Is he shitting me or are there really games with that high a stakes? buying of 25x the big bet would be 250,000. Wow. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised since there's bound to be a lot of money floating around in Toronto.
