Flint Bones' Vegas Trip Day 3

DAY 3

I wake up at 9:30am. We head to Caesar’s to play in the $85 tournament. Great structure (40 minute blinds). You get $1500 to start with the option to buy another 3000 chips for $50 for the first two levels at any time regardless of your stack. Everyone at my table buys it. I play well for the first two levels but nothing really big. I make a few good lay downs after raising pre-flop and I am at $4000 at the 4th level. I get JJ in the SB and raise it to $1200 (BB is $400). BB calls and everyone folds. A on the flop and I bet out . BB raises it. I think he may be on a play so I call. Turn is a K. I check he moves in. I fold. He shows the Ace.

I get blinded down and the BB takes me out when I push with J10. He has J 8 and hits his 8. I go out in 89 of 142. Shtebs is out 30 seconds later.

I buy into another cash game. I lose $100 fast with AQ to 58 when the flush hit the turn to an old angry guy. I could go in further detail but I won’t. I should have folded but I didn’t.

As Aaron busts out in 30th (Ray was out long ago) I get A10 clubs in Mid. I raise to $15 and get two callers (one was the 5 8 guy which I raised the same amount last time). Flop is 4 7 5. Two clubs. BB bets $10, EP calls (5 -8 guy), I call. Turn is a brick. BB bets $20, EP calls, I call. River is a wonderful club but it pairs the board. BB bets $25, EP calls. I go all in for $25 + $20 more but the last $20 is void as no one heard me push. BB turns over AA. I flip my flush and the EP( old angry guy) mucks. He then continues to berate my play. Saying I should have folded on the flop. He goes on and on for about twenty minutes. He flopped a straight and was pissed. The AA guys tells me of all the people he played with Aces wrong.

I leave shortly afterwards. The old angry guy never stopped complaining about bad beats. My favourite that I saw against him was after he pushes in on the river and is called. He looks at the caller and says only a boat beats my flush. He says laughing. Only a boat! The caller flips he boat and says, yeah and I got it. Dude was so angry. I loved it.

We leave and head to the Venetian. Nice place. There is a freaking RIVER that goes over the casino. Yeas over not under. On our way we pass Crazy Shane from this season of Survivor on an escalator. Shtebs says, quite loudly, “He it’s crazy Shane!” He looks at us and doesn’t smile or even acknowledge us. He wasn’t smoking though. I was surprised. The Venetian Poker room opened the next day. So we didn’t play there. We eventually head over to the Wynn Casino and it was really nice. More high end than the Bellagio. We find the poker room next to the Ferrari/Mazerati dealer. The wait list is long and they had a 7 Stud, Razz Omaha and Hold em. (Razz was offered at Caesar’s as well). Shtebs gets into a 2-5 NL game after 20 minutes. Ray plays in a 6-12 limit game. Aaron and I get into a 1-3 NL after waiting 40 minutes. I was going to play a 4-8 limit game but the wait was twice as long. Again first hand I lose a bundle with a flopped straight to a flush on the turn. I lose the rest when I hit my flush on the turn and lose to a flopped boat. I drank a lot of Crown and Coke during this time. I doubled up with 10 10 to an all in bet on a flop of under cards. The guy who looked like a young pro whose name I can’t remember, He wasn’t him but looed like him. I know this description sucks, anyway, he calls with K9 and MHIG. I play for a few hours, still down quite a bit. The room was good and the players at the Wynn were better than Aladdin and Caesar’s. At this point I decided to have fun and not really play my best game. I got drunk. I donked off chips for a bit and built it back up with a couple of small hands. I was card dead for a while and limped with crap and missed a lot. I got KJ and limped. Hit my J with and Ace and an eight on the board. Guy who looks like the mystery pro and isn’t bets $15. I raise it to $45 thinking he will fold. He calls. Turn comes another 8 and I get bet $20. He calls, crap I say, he has an ace. River comes a King. Now here is where I am Drunk Bones. I think I have two pair, Kings and Jacks and have my opponent beat. I bet out another $45. He calls and I turn over my cards and I am happy as hell. Then Aaron who was standing by me watching tells me I am no good. Aces and Eights beats Kings and Jacks. I look again. Wow, I flat out missed it. I lose my pot and feel like a big ass Donkey. So I get another drink. I am a really dummy. Drunk poker is BAD. LESSON #4: Drunk poker can lose you money if you are the drunk.
I don’t go on tilt and keep playing. Aaron comes by and says that he is up $250 or so and has cashed out. Shtebs is down and has cashed out. Ray is down and is going to cash out. So plan on waiting until I am UTG and leave. I am down $200 and have about $50 in front of me. Two hands later I get 10 10. I am in EP and raise it to $15. Two callers including pro guy who isn’t a pro but sure looks like him. Flop comes 10 5 7 with two spades. I push in knowing that it is my only option with my short stack. First guy calls and the pro dude goes all in over the top. Caller folds. Turn blank, river blank. MHIG. The villain said he had a straight draw and a flush draw. I take down the pot and cash out. I apologize in my drunken state and head out.

We go to a late night buffet in Wynn. It costs $150+ for the four of us. But the food was amazing. I had about 36 ounces of Prime Rib, half a pizza, 4 crab legs, a half pound of Mussels, buns and butter (yeah, I don’t know why), asparagus, and a few other things I have forgotten. I got the meat sweats and finally stopped. Shtebs, Ray and Aaron hit it pretty hard too. We got our money’s worth. After an hour or so we split and decided to walk back to our hotel. It was around 11:30pm.
We collected a ton of hooker cards. So for about $30-45 you can get hot women in your room in twenty minutes. Well some of them were hot. I have them and will bring them to Bristol if anyone cares. Funny stuff.
We got “Woo hooed” by a car of women. I gave a lot of “Woos!” back but no “hoos”. They weren’t that hot.
Shtebs had a big fat hairy many lean out of his cab and asked him if he had ever seen Brokeback Mountain. He then commented on his nice jeans. He then asked him and name and first said, “It’s Ted, right?” Then he guessed, “Bill?” And then, “Steve?”. Which was really funny since, well, Shtebs is Steve. The light tuned green and Shteb’s admirer left. Don’t worry, Shtebs does get bent over later. We stop at the Bellagio light and water show. It was great. Really, it is something to see in person. We went by the place where they filmed that final scene in Ocean’s 11. I like the movie and thought it was cool to see.

We get back to the Aladdin around 12:00 or 1:00. Aaron crashes and I play poker with Shtebs and Ray. Again 1-2 NL. I played for about 1-2 hours and lost $200+. First loss. KK (first time all weekend with KK) and I raise to $20 preflop with 4-5 limpers ahead of me. One caller. The flop comes and Ace. I bet out $20 and he re-raises me for all my chips. I fold. He shows and an Ace. Well, duh.
I get AQ and raise to $15 and get re-raised by the guy to my right to $40. It is folded to me and I call for the extra $25. I put him on a pair of 7s or so. I miss the flop, I check and he pushes in. I fold. He never shows. I think that perhaps a re-re-raise all in pre flop or a fold was what I should have done. Call and checking was weak. My last hand.
J10 in the BB. Limped to me with 5 people in the pot.
Flop J J 8 rainbow.
I check. It is check to the mid. He bets $20 and the Button calls. I push in for $108 and try and take it down right here. Folded to the Mid player who folds. The button has my chips counted and goes into the tank. He calls and turns over QJ. I am busted.
I get up and see that Steve is doing okay and Ray has cashed out. I got to bed. That’s poker. I think no matter what I did here I was going broke. The turn brought a straight draw for me and if I didn’t push when I did, I would have then. I don’t really hate my play on this hand.
End of Day 3. It is about 2:30am or so.

Comments

  • I was doing pretty well at the Ceaser's noon tourney myself. I did rebuy but was just shy of 9k in chips at one point. I get into a battle with a mid sized chip stack when I flop top two (KQ) and put him to the test going AI when he reraised me. Bad move he shows a set of Kings and I'm wounded with roughly 2500 in chips left. my table gets broken up, blinds go up and I go card dead on a loose aggresive table. I finally move all in under the gun with pocket 6s and not only get called but reraised all-in and called by two fairly large stacks so I figure my tourney is over (sadly I was right). I play some 5-10 NL for a while and am slowly bleeding out on a short feeder table (waiting for seats at the main 5-10NL table). A friendly but very loose old guy sits down and wins two decent pots by completely bluffing out the other players. We are four handed and I get KJo. I raise to $50 and get 2 callers (one being loose old guy). Flop comes KJ5 all diamonds. Old guy bets $220 overbetting the pot so I put him on mid pair, possibly trying to buy the pot, so I reraise him all-in. He thinks about it (I figure by now my 2 pair are good) and eventually calls showing 7d3d and I'm drawing to four outs. They don't hit and I'm now down $500 bucks on the day for cash games.
We go to play at Wynn's which was really swanky looking with incredibly gorgeous servers (as mentioned previously) but it was also really crowded and full to capacity so getting to and from your table was sometime a real challenge. I sit down to play some 2-5 NL and get another good table with a rock, few mediocre players and two complete donks. One donk is taking everyone else's money so I double up on him my second hand and bide my time making him pay me off once more. I bought in for $300 and have a decent evening leaving with $750.
As Andrew stated, the buffet was incredible and I force myself to eat so much I'm nearly ill (but I'd do it again). The walk home was not only scenic but necessary from a personal comfort level.
We get back to the hotel and Andrew, my Father and I choose to play for a bit. I choose 1-2 NL and get a really tight table with very little money on it so I decide I won't stay long. Andrew and my Dad head up to bed and I was planning on playing my puck and following them. Within a few hands two guys leave, one lady busts out (her last $30 bucks so not even a big pot) and the new players bring some nice stacks. They are also fairly young and clearly drunk. I decide to stay for a while and see how the table dynamic changes. It becomes a fairly loose game with some big pots but I'm only able to make $101 profit before I give up and go to bed.
I end the day down $49.
  • Great reports. Thanks.
