Vegas - Here I come?
Hey all:
My "special" friend and I both have the last week of April off - so since Kate was so nice to go with Shannon - Lindsay is at least keeping her mind open about going with me.
I am looking for any advice on great rates (Since Lindsay is still a student I am getting stuck fronting the bill for both of us; otherwise we woud be in Thailand).
Also I am looking for suggestions for the non-gambling type??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Just visiting the different casinos can be interesting, they all have their own flair. Check out the shows, be sure to check if the shows aren't already sold out. See the lions at the MGM, Gondola ride at the Venetian, Oggling at Coyote Ugly ($10.00 cover), Mud Wresting at the the Frontier, The previous two may not be suitable for Mixed audiences, Penn and Teller at the Rio. Schedule your Poker time around your schedule and if you want a long session, stay up all night, sleep is really overated in Vegas. The Bus down the strip at night is a good way to see all the night lights. See the Water show at the Bellagio. Use the shuttle to get up or down the strip during the day, the bus is really show, Check at your hotel about the Show tickets, Free stuff just appears in Vegas, sometimes. Put $5.00 on 17 the first time you pass a roulette, I'll collect my winnings later.

O is really worth it. Other free stuff is the volcano and pirate show. Live statues at Caesars. Fremont street (downtown) experience.
Also do an internet search for free shuttles which can save walking.
Tom I am not sure if you have booked anything yet but the flights out of Buffalo seem to be the cheapest but most do have stop overs. Â I found the cheapest direct flights out of Toronto on Travelocity. $365 CDN taxes in but I thnik you can get them for $200 to $275 range in Buffalo depending on the week. Our cheapest out of Buffalo was about $275 CDN all in.
As for hotels the strip is where the action is and it is always nice to get as centre as possible. Â I have stayed at Circus Circus, Treasure Island, Imperial Palace, Harrahs and this time the small little Casino Royale. Â It is dead centre strip accross from the Mirage. Not sure about the room quality as it is an older casino but location and price is great. Â Check their website. Â We booked direct and through travelworm for 6 nights = $500 CDN all in. Â Weekends are usually $99 to $129 and weekdays are usually $29 to $59 for some decent hotels.
From my previous experiences free attractions are
Bellagio Fountains, Animal Habitats at various casinos, Circus at circus circus, TI pirates, Stratesphere has a good afternoon show Viva Las Vegas for $10 and you get a couple drinks. Â They also have the rollercoasters at tthe top of the sphere. Â Miranda will be doing those solo. Â We will also be taking a day trip to Laughlin Nevada which is supposed to be a mini vegas on the Colorade river. Â Usually it's $5 to $10 for the bus trip but they give you a free lunch buffet and sometimes $10 in gambling tokens. Â Hover Dam trips i think were $25 a piece but I didn't find that it to be that great now that I have seen it. Â There are also Lake Mead cruises but again I think a whole day cruise is $75 a person includes drinks and food of course. Of course the Freemont St. experience is a must.
That's about all I can think of off the top. Â I will be reporting when I get back and advise if I find anything else.

TNorth - Vegas can be a lot of fun for the non-gambler. It should be plenty warm for swimming, and some of the hotels have amazing pools. There is awesome window shopping (or, if you hit it big at the poker tables - actual shopping), at Ceasars, Bellagio, etc.
Take in a show or two, go for a fancy dinner (I HIGHLY recommend Aureole in Mandalay Bay), take her dancing one night (Ra in the Luxor hotel is a pretty cool club)....I'm sure she'll have a great time.
If you can see Penn & Teller, go for it. I saw them in Kitchener a few years back, and they put on a great show.
I've always wanted to try the indoor skydiving that you always see on TV. It looks like fun.
And if it were Wraych and I going, we'd rent a car (or take a bus trip) up to Hoover Dam. But I'm a sucker for "touristy" stuff like that.
I'm sure I'll see you before you leave, but have a great trip!!
