I think Online Poker is dead to me!

So I was playing in the 10K Guarenteed tournament tonight and we were down to 44 people and I was Chipleader with 44,000TC. This represented a little over 8% of the total chips. All of a sudden I get disconnected. After about 10 minutes I get logged back in and there is a message that the tournament ended while I was disconnected. Then the tournament gets cancelled. Then I notice I only received the $15 entry fee back. WTF, the Worst I could have placed was 44th which paid $50, and which is imposible since it woulda taken like 20 rounds of blinds to bust me out. Over 2 hours of work and all I get is my $15. If I don't get some satifaction from Pacific I think I'm taking all my money out and probably never playing onling again. $2300.00 payday staring at me and this happens. If all I get is my $15 back Pacific is a freaking joke of a site. Will keep you all informed.

  • Ouch, try a complaint. Call the support and ask to talk to a pit boss.
  • I'd be very interested in hearing how they respond to this complaint, as I play there as well. Please let us know how this unravels.
  • Wow. That's very unfortunate to hear. Please keep us updated. Might be time to remove mention of them from this site if it's going to be like that.
  • I recently tried out Pacific Poker. I didn't really care for the software, although the games were somewhat soft. I had no problems cashing out from Pacific with Neteller. The cashout was a little on the slow side (4 or 5 days... my last PartyPoker Neteller cashout took less than 5 minutes), but some delay is to be expected since it was my first cashout from their site.

So, I've had no problem with Pacific personally, but if Ventrick's report is accurate and no accepatble resolution is reached, I'd say that seems like a fishy site to me.

  • I was playing in a $40 single table tourny on intercasino.com and their system crashed for about an hour. I was in 2nd place at the time with 8 people remaining. When I eventually logged back in and their system was back up I had a credit for the 2nd place winning. Many times when I have been dissatisfied with the service I am getting from any poker website I will write them an email and gently remind them of their "mission statement", which is usually something along the line of how trusted or reputable they are. I also let them know how much money I typically play with and how I am a member of MANY poker forums and continually bring new customers to their site by word of mouth advertising. Anyway, I would expect that they make a deal with the top 10 players (at that time) and pay the rest out accordingly. If you suggest something like that they might be willing to listen, otherwise make sure you let them know that ALL of the forums you are a member on will know about this travesty. By the way, this is my only forum :)

  • Wow, I really can't believe that!! That is a joke that at the very least they should have given you the $50. for the 44 place finish. Just send them an email requesting some answers.
  • Thanks for the positive replies. I sent them off an email as soon as it happened and received a very vague standardized reply. So I sent off another more forceful email stating more facts and quoting their own words from their website with regards to fairness and and making good on commitments. If I do not get a satifactory reply to that email I will take your advice and call them.
  • I think at UB if they have to cancel a tournament that's already started due to system issues, they will distribute the prize pool amongst the remaining players based on the percentage of chips you have left... This seems like a fair system to me.

    hork.
  • Well I just got off the phone with Pacific Poker and am satisfied with the results. What they are going to do is take the remaining unpaid out Prize pool and split it evenly among all 44 people left in the tournament. So we will all get about $220 each. Even though I was the chipleader I think this is a very reasonable solution as as the representative said you can't predict the final outcome of the tournament with 44 people left, so it is the only fair way to do it. Guess my faith in online Poker is restored, it sure isn't $2300 but considering payout for 10th Place was $150 and there was still alot of poker to go I'm happy.

Too bad they weren't using UB's method according to Hork or I would be banking about $900.:P
  • Very nice. Glad it was resolved fairly, despite the unfortunate fact that it happened in the first place.

  • That is terrific news. Thanks for the update.
  • Not bad, although I prefer UB's method. Tough break.

Seems like Pacific remains a legitimate place to play in my books at least. :)

  • Cool, I kinda think that some people will get screwd (only get $15, and won't complain).
  • Glad to hear you got a resolution to this. I had one complaint with Pacific in the time I have played there, but it was a much smaller problem than yours. In the end I was satisfied that they answered my complaint fairly quickly and addressed the problem, even though I also wished that the problem (an error in their software) hadn't happened in the first place.
