Casino Niagara now using rake at 1/2NL instead of session fee.

Was at Casino Niagara last night playing 1/2NL and they have switched from a $5. per 1/2 hr session fee to a rake. 10% to a $5. max, $2. is taken on the flop.

Comments

  • Guess they need the money, as this will surely increase the amount removed from play every 1/2 hour
  • Did you see the article in the paper about strip poker at niagara? :D
    (dated April 1st?) :'(
  • what paper please?

So which would you rather play, 1/2NL in Seneca that take a $3 drop on the flop + $1 at $40.
    Or

Niagara 1/2NL that take $2 on the flop and $1 at 30 and $1 at 40 and $1 at 50?????
    Is $1 taken at $10??
Is there a no flop no drop rule?

How would each of these rakes affect your playstyle?

    Which is better?
  • I prefer the new rake structure. This is because rake favours tighter play (as you only pay when you win a pot, a player who is involved in fewer pots pays less rake) and I am a tight player. Also, the fish don't realize how much $$$ is being taken off the table with rake, and that's good for everyone.
  • I guess the strip poker is happening at the sun downer?

Yes it takes way more money off the table, money you would win when you hit your hands with tight play.

Approx $25. more per hr, FYI. I agree that it takes more per hr off the table but for a person with tighter starting hand requirements I believe since they pay less rake then it is advantageous. No idea how to calculate the crossover point though.
  • I was thinking that too, but I just feel more money leaving the gamae is a huge concern, not so much just what you are paying.
