Rake at Clubs

What is the standard rake at the clubs advertised in the home section? or do they charge entrance/session fees?

Comments

  • They vary ALOT...as in there are some clubs taking $15 out of a pot in 5/5NL...be careful and try not to support the games whose sole purpose is to fleece the players.
  • For the most part I personally avoid the raked home games. When the person who is collecting the rake is in the game it makes me question the integrity of the game IMHO. Also when there is nothing provided besides a dealer I just avoid it. Why fleece me when I can run my own game without a rake? There are enough alternatives that I can avoid the high raked games.
  • For 1/2 NL, fairest rake of all the places I've played is Unit.

For 5/5 NL, fairest rake of all the places I've played is Airport.

There aren't any entrance/session fees. There is a club that has a $25 cap on 5/5 NL.

    HP,

Thank you and we like to always make sure we are fair to all the players. And just so you know, we are the same as the Unit in the 1/2 game as well. Both our clubs are out to provide a fun and fair place to play.

  • as long as the rake is low enough that the players dont notice it, but the club is still making a buck for themselves, you knwo its a good rake.

a club doesnt want to screw the players, but the club is in it for a reason, same as a casino. to make a few dollars.

this is why i personally dont mind when a game takes a reasonable rake.

When XX23 has her games their rake is always good, never even noticable to the players.

  • All these answers and not one actually answers the question. Oh well. :rage:
  • There is no standard, contact the clubs where you want to play and ask it's not that difficult. No club is going to post their rake on a public forum.
  • There are no games running right now that charge session fee/entrance fee that I know off. They all generally charge a percentage rake, w/ a max. The question that you as a player must decide is where is the value on your money? Does the service the club provides justify the rake? Do they serve food, refreshments? What is the atmosphere like? Ultimately it is hard to beat a chop game long term, the glory of the Toronto Underground is that there are alot of really bad players with more money than brains. I advise playing a more hit and run strategy should you decide to play in any of the Clubs, with a maximum you are willing to issue.(Having a maximum in a rake game is very very important because the rake eats the available chips fast enough that you do not have luxury to chase to far, no matter how "fair" the rake).

The majority of the clubs in toronto are raking:
    ~ 5% to a max $10 on 10/20 Limited(Benny's is the lowest @ $7, there a re a few $15).
    ~1/2 NL Usually 10% max between $5-8
~5/5 NL Usually 5% max between $10-15 (a few ridiculous games chop max $25)

Your question is hard to answer, not knowing what type of game/limit you are looking for.
  • we run a home game and rake 1$ from any pot over 20$. This money usually supplies small snacks. Pop juice chips pastires ECT.. I think it's rather fair myself
