Brantford 2-5

I thought some of you might like to know that Brantford is experimenting with a 2-5 game.

I played last night, and it was decent. A pretty loose game but overall not that much worse than the 5-10 games. It was actually alot of fun to stack the white chips up in front of you.

The dealers hate dealing it, and the table broke up around 12 or 1. So I have a feeling it isn't going to be around for long.

I'm planning on going tomorrow but I doubt I'll be playing 2/5.

On July 1 I sat at the 2-5 and 5-10 tables at Brantford. What I observed prompted this post:

Arrogance at low limit tables.
As someone who is new to poker, I find the arrogance found at the low limit tables disturbing. I don't plan on being a short term player but every time you sit at 2-5 or 5-10 you invariably get someone or two sitting down and denigrating the game. "I can't believe I'm even playing this" "How can you waste your time at this?" "I'm just waiting for a spot at 10-20 because I can't stand to play this crap."
Now, I know I am weak, I am working on that. I also know I can stand to sit and take your twit talk because if that crap is coming out of your mouth then it is a good indicator of what's between the ears.
Just remember your arrogance does not make it fun for people at the table. It's not tactics to bully the table or tilt players because you aren't going to scare 2-5 players they will call. What you'll do is chase them home soon and someone who is just a bit above a starter can't have that. I need them to stay so I can scratch out some cash because what you can do at 2-5 or 5-10 is all I can do right now with confidence. Don't tap the glass. You can see them just willing the call list to call you away from the table.
Read the paper, play some other game or go jerk off in the can because that is all you're doing at the table is pleasuring yourself.

I don't think that the 2-5 table will do all that well at Brantford. I've been a couple times and their 5-10 always seems to be doing quite well. There is normally always a decent sized wait time to get on them. I have also heard that they may be expanding their poker room to accomodate a couple more tables. That could be why their testing it.

I think the 2-5 will be very successful, if it's offered consistently. At this point it's possible that the word isn't really out there that 2-5 is even offered.

A few people on this forum have driven to Rama specifically because they offer the 2-5 limit, even though Brantford was much closer to them.

I totally agree that this sucks, hank. It sucked when I was playing low-limit, and it still sucks if I sit down at a 20/40 and someone starts bitching about how that's the lowest limit they have. I go out of my way to avoid saying anything at the table about the limit I'm playing.

That being said, when I was in Halifax, there was a guy who clearly thought he was all that and then some sitting at the 2/4 table all night. Wearing sunglasses, all night. Of course, I kept my thoughts to myself, but I had to chuckle a bit... He may be giving his opponents a *bit* too much credit if he thinks that--at a table where calling 3 bets cold with 9To is par for the course--anyone is actively trying to get a read on him.
