Question for Zithal

Hey Rob....was wondering if you would have the time to suggest a blind schedule for me. I've have been dying to try a big stack tournamentbut have yet to be able to make it out to any.....so I'm going to run one in the near future. I believe your tournaments and their structure are pretty close to perfection, you should be quite proud of yourself you offer a great venue for everyone in the KW area! I'm looking to have 3-4 tables limited to 8 players per with a starting stack of 10,000. I'd like to have the thing run for about 6-8 hours, with the early rounds being nice and relaxed. the later rounds can be more aggressive but I'm hoping there is still lots of play on the final table.

  • Save the Rocks 4 spots!!!!
  • Will do Jeff, not much for details yet...still working out some stuff but it will be a nice, cheap, relaxed, fun tourney...hopefully in the fresh air.
  • I go through a lot of "phases" in blinds schedules, (ie. most of the first ones had no antes, now almost all of them do.. mostly due to the number of people playing) I also like gradual raising blinds, using the length of each blind level determine the total length of the tournament.

I still like the kwsop blind schedule, (check out www.kwsop.com) but there are a few changes I'd make to it...

    - repeat the 100-200 level with the second adding antes. The rule for antes are that the ante should be as close to 1/3rd of the small blind as possible without going over that. Some people use as close to 1/4th as possible which is fine to. I like punishing the shorter stacks into action which is why I've kept it at 1/3rd. (I believe most major tournaments use this too)

    - Drop the 25-25 level. 25-25 isn't needed with 10,000 chips, but it is a fun, care-free level so you can keep it if you like.

    - add a 150-300 (50) level.

    - replace 1,000-1,500 with 800-1,600 (200)

    - Consider throwing in a 1,200-2,400 (400) level (though that does cause A LOT of black chips to get thrown around!)

This way, you can time the length of each blind level to determine when the tournament will end. If you're only running a couple tables, then you can consider also

    In summary...

    75-150
