Open-ended straight draw...
In Volume one of Harrington on Hold'em,
he states that an open ended straight draw can be counted as 1.5 outs.
This is after the flop, with two cards to come.
How does he come up with this number?
Thanks for the input.

My guess is he is talking about a backdoor open-ended straight draw, such as holding JT on a flop of 942.
To come up with this, someone would compute the probability of improving the hand to a straight, most likely using computer software to simulate the turn and river cards. This probability would be compared to the probability of drawing to both 1-out and 2-out draws with two cards to come. If the original backdoor straight draw is found to be roughly halfway in between, you might think of it as being approximately 1.5 outs.

It's been a while, but I"m sure it has something to do with the fact that some of them aren't "guaranteed" outs.
If you have an open-ended straight draw, say with a great hand like 7-8, and it drops 9-10-2, then you need either a 6 or a J, but if a J hits, you're beat by Q-K
I'm not 100% though.

It is found on page 273.
I hold :js :ts, the flop comes  :qd :9s :3c.
Harrington says the open ended straight has eight outs, and the BACKDOOR FLUSH is ~1.5 outs.
What are the odds of hitting runner-runner for the flush.
Is their anywhere to find a solid list of stats. i.e. that trips hit, two pair, four of a kind?
Backdoor OESD is 1:38
Backdoor Inside Straight Draw is 1:71
http://www.tightpoker.com/poker_odds.html is a good article on pot odds with a chart of stats. Another good chart is http://www.pokerworld.com/lounge/online_poker_odds.htm .
You can type in how many outs you have and it will provide your %'s; as well itwill tell you the max you can call to make that call profitable.
It also has specific buttons for common draws.
I found this helpful when I was first learning odds - after you use it enough you know the %'s before it refreshes - but I especially like the info on max bet you can call.
This site has a pretty good calculator.
